Meadowlark Osprey??

robbo,
i'm sure i saw a mark on his forehead ;)

tone,
yes 15k is hugely expensive and i too will have to find another route but they certainly opened my eyes to what 'full range' is even more so than his k2 subs. i did find them a little 'raw' in the mid / treble but this could have been run in - although that atc driver is reputed to be ruthless (though accurate - ok bub?).
oops, i thought they were the bmf 100's.
cheers

Wouldn't use a prancing horse lump thanks, too un reliable & expensive, although they do sound Exquisite :)

well soundwise i must say there's nothing like a tvr to my ears... it may not be as fast, but they sound the best... :JPS:

went the the dusk airshow at old warden last saturday and must say that the tvr had one of the weaker engine notes i heard there. well, up against some old 9 cylinder rotary engines a russian stunt plane that could hover hanging straight down off it's propeller and a spitfire at full chat it had bugger all chance really.
cheers

You should hear my MotoGuzzi...
Vibrates the floor at low revs then screams like a Duke 888 when you open up the throttle. Amazing the change in engine noises from £5k worth of tuning! (Gilding a turd etc etc, I've heard it all - but it's faster than a Cbr6 to 80ish, and 30 times as cool, especially being a venerable 30 years old.)

Gotta be the Spitfire.
Im lucky, where i live we have 2 of the remaining flying Spitfires at an airfeild less than 1 mile away. One owned by Rolls Royce, the other by BAE.
The BAE is an early model, lovely sounding merlin engine, the Rolls one is later and has the twin super charged merlin, early one still sounds better:D

Never had the pleasure of hearing a spitfire live, up close at least. But, I'm willing to wager that a couple of rows of Ducati superbikes with full open race cans comes very close. An absolutely glorious sound.

Michael, I've never heard the BRM v16 live, only a recording. Judging by that recording I'd have to agree - a fantastic noise! Must dig it out and play it REALLY LOUD.

Stuart, I too have only heard the BRM V16 on a recording (on the CD that came with Nick Mason's book "Into the Red"). Would love to hear it live though :)

Michael.

last saturday it was great. even the oiks who'd been playing football all afternoon during the less charismatic aircraft's turns just stopped and directed their slack jawed gaze skywards as the spitfire took off and started it's runs. it was weird a sense of silence even though there was this mad thundering warplane in the air doing 50 ft low passes dog fighting with itself. the spell was only broken with some git in a helicopter started his whirligig a few minutes before the spitfire landed. worth the 15 quid entry fee for that alone - pity their hurrican was away at the time as they usually have mock dogfights between the two.
even a screaming race car or a bank of motorbikes can;t do that.
cheers
