I've literally got enough cash to buy the Macs at the moment, just had a guy come around this evening to take the Verity's off of me and he paid up in juicy green notes. Shame I'm not in the market for a 4k amp though at the moment.

Merlin, hope you find something soon. You couldn't manage on a "hifi salary", but I doubt Hifi would survive long without your valient efforts.

 

I do indeed now have enough to buy a pair of 989's BUT I'm planning on moving to a smaller house soon where possibly the 989's might not get the breathing space they require and also going on holiday at the end of the month. So no, not for moment, as tempted as I am.

Not yet. Should hopefully be turning up Saturday morning. The shop I bought them from said they would give me a call to confirm when they'll be turning up with their delivery van. I haven't spoken to them since Monday, so I assume they're still turning up on Saturday. Will give them a call tomorrow to see what's what.

Won't have much time to do much listening on Saturday though, as I'm taking a young lady out to lunch and then a mate's birthday night out that same evening.

 

Mike - if you're reading what are you using now the Proacs have gone?

Gone all domestic whilst dreaming of doing something interesting with the JBL's Trying out an interesting Subwoofer though Quite impressive in it's own way.

Nothing really exciting Steve, just playing around with one of the Velodyne DD series of subwoofers. With simple DSP it manages to ease integration somewhat, and of course is huge fun with movies. Will continue to pay around but suspect the measurement process is lacking a degree of accuracy to be honest. Still not bad results

 

I've got a calibrated measurement microphone and could run ETF5 measurement software on your pc if you're interested.

Mac Lads at the ready Julian In all seriousness, the profundity of the bottom end is quite likely to seriously upset them But again, because of the absence of boom, it is likely to be less offensive on music than a pair of ML's The energy from room modes is far more offensive in real terms.

 

So what happened to your custom JBLs aka the Frikin' Awesomes, have you still got them or did you sell them?
