I actually did read it as Mark Levinson in his post. :D Should have known he was having another sly dig. :) Still, for the price I originally paid for 2 subs I still have more controlled and better quality bass than I ever have done yet in my current room/set-up. Why should I spend more. ;)

I prefer the short nosed one's, they're not as highly strung, and are willing to be shared with yer pals. :D

Er....entirely up to you Henry, but I've yet to hear a pair of Meadowlarks that didn't sound coloured in the bass  . I'm not saying they're poor or bad value before the mafia gets all upset - just that, in response to your question above, you could spend more and get more ;)

Mine don't sound coloured in the bass to me on the whole. The only real criticism I'd level at them so far is a cabinet reasonance which seems to be quite prominent with radio presenter's voices for example especially on quality BBC broadcasts (not so noticeable on the more compressed commerical stations), in the lower mids or upper bass - in which case we may be hearing the same thing?

That'll be the one Henry, although as it seems common to a number of Larks, I suspect it is something in the bass loading that is causing the colouration rather than simply the cabinet. So have you got those real speakers yet then? The JBL's are sadly missed - in storage awaiting a new home or a cunning plan ;)

Shame Henry - is it Definitive by chance?

BTW, the 989's sound awesome when using Tact - I had the pleasure of listening recently and have to say it was one of the most impressive demonstations of the technology I have heard. Oh and it played music as well :D

A good guess, but it's not definitive, although I do note that they appear to have 2 ex-dem pairs for sale.

Where did you hear the Tact/989 set-up, was it a private or shop dem?

Private Henry - a guy asked for me to drop round and help tweak an RCS2.0 he picked up a while ago.

I know a number of Tact owners use Quads and now I can understand why :)

    Hi Henry

Have they arrived yet? I'd be keen to know how they sound on the end of your BC. I've been contemplating the new ES Lab tripath based amps. Now that they're distributed direct with a 14 day trial period, the prices make them far more compelling than the BCs.

    Hi Reg,

Will be keeping you in suspense for a bit longer I'm afriad.

There's been yet another delay with the delivery. Were due to deliver this morning but still no free staff who can drive the delivery van, so now they tell me they are going to use a courier instead to deliver for tomorrow morning. TBH, I'm dreading the courier delivery in case they get damaged in transit.
