They were a team for god's sake (along with Rod Temperton) - anyone can see that.

I really fail to see what the music has to do with who or what he was.

Errr he was a pop star. or did you miss that bit? We could have a discussion about whether what he did in his personal life was detrimental (or otherwise) to his standing as a musician. But then we could have that debate about most musicians. I prefer to listen to the music. Mad fucker that i am.

    did someone mention overblown reverence?

Forget the paedo allegations and subsequent payoff (if you can), he was a businessman, an entertainer, a dancer and a singer. Thats it. Death is sad for anyone so better make light where possible. I hope when I die many ppl can have a laugh and a party - especially at my shortcomings. What do I care, Im dead!

Get over the eulogies and save them for ppl that die that actually make a REAL difference - not just pop music bs. It grinds my effin gears when popstars or other media celebs are alloted importance because of what they do. They are not curing cancer they are making you smile and/or dance.

Dear Zerogain members, how about this, we raised questions of what he did and did not do and as history shows, we the normal public tend to find out a lot more of a stars career once they have passed away, as is with the likes of B. Marley, J. Lennon, F. Sinatra and many many more.

I would like to say that it is vital that all members are able to express their view whether an abrupt view or a constructive view, but to understand that, we at present do not know enough about MJ to really make conclusive decisions, not opinions!

Of course we can all have a laugh and giggle and TBH I have been rolling about in stiches of laughter at the thousands of jokes that circulated yesterday, they were trully in a class of their own.

What I would say though is that MJ, has touched everyone whom has heard him in one way or another as, we would not be discussing it on this forum otherwise.

Whether you like his music or not, MJ had stirred up the music industry (what we all enjoy) extremely efficiently, whether you class him as a businesman or an entertainer. He has left a mark in history for his contribution to music in general, which will be remembered just like many others.

Whether he is remebered for the personal aspect of his life or for the music he was invloved in, I am sure we can all agree that a huge contribution has been made and that he should be remebered for advances within the music industry.

I have tried to stay very neutral here, as I beleive in what I have written to be something that most people would agree to without arguement, a contribution has been made like many others whom have passed away.

Lets hope he can be remembered for the input he did put into teh industry. But as I said I did have a good giggle, so here is my best one:

Gary Glitter is said to be deeply upset by the passing of Michael Jackson, on a brighter note though, it is reported that he has had 1st dibs on his photo albums.

couldn't help it, heres another one or two:

jockeys at tomorrows newmarket meeting will wear black armbands out of respect for Jacko who successfully rode more 3 yr olds than anyone in living history.

    last one:

Out of respect McDonalds have released the McJackson burger, 50 year old meat between 10 year old buns.

Yeah, death is probably the only peace he's had for a long time. You can only guess at the strange life he's been living as a product of being force fed show business from an early age. I pity the guy, despite all the allegations he's seriously outside of the loop of what people would call living a normal life, and fair game for those who cynically wished to profit. I'm not disputing his actions were very foolish indeed and maybe illegal as his defence basically bought his freedom, but all I can think of when I heard the news was Billie Jean being the coolest record I'd heard for a long time when as a teen I saw the video on TV. I sat aghast the other night when I heard. I'm not a fan but still felt like something had been taken away from my own life I suppose.
