    With regards to the volume issue. Select all the songs in itunes, then right click and get info, at the bottom of the following window, increase the output to around 140%

    And your done, louder music.

    IN terms of battery usage on the AAC format mine quiet happiply ticks along for around 7 hours, which I don't consider to be too shabby.
