Excuse me for being thick, but the W800 is decribed as a 'walkman' phone.Does that make it different to the N70? OIr are they the same thing,ie MP3 players with headphones?

I dont know whether the N70 has the same level of "walkman" functions - can anyone describe notable W800 functionality in this regard?

...but you can store up to 1GB of music on the Nokia and listen to said music with the headphones which come with it. In my book it's at least in the same ball park, plus has similar photo functions, but the 6680/N70 are 3G which makes them the obvious choice for me just simply due to work (laptop connect via 3G modem), email (IMAP client with Word, Excel, PDF and PPoint readers), t'internet at low end broadband speeds and video calling (yet to use it myself though :) )

I reckon though many people arent bothered about the data speed or browsing or video calling and would prefer something smaller like the W800 - however is the joystick as delicate as that of the K700i? If so I'd avoid it at all costs.

O2 Online - Topup £10 a month and get 300 free texts per month or 100 cross-net minutes.

If you don't need a handset, I can get you a Sim card (normally £10).

I've just been given an N70 on a free upgrade.I've had 2 Sony Ericssons and had nothing but problems.

do you get a usb cable for the phone? Not being technically minded,I assume i can save a cd into my lappy, then download to the phone? Will the phone come with the software to do this?

Yeah, that sounds like the one. My phone is network free so it's just the sim I'm after.

Are you "in the business" as they say?

    Cheers :)

You could say that. If Anex has some he wants rid of anyway, you could take his. If not, I'll get a batch from work next week.

They're usually only given away at live gigs/promotions etc.

I don't get it. 12MOnth contract, with everything free for 12MOnths, apart from what you use over the free allocation.

Sounds too good to be true....... so I'm guessing it is. What am I missing?

Regarding the sim's....... anyone fancy sending me a few i'll pm you my address. Many thanks :)

The W800i has exactly the same headphone jack as the K750i - the two phones have identical hardware. However, the headphones you get with the W800i have normal headphone jack connection so you can use any phones you like with them. I just got a pair of W800i headphones for my K750i, way better than then the standard K750i ones and only £25.

IMO the K750i is easily the best all round phone on the market at the moment. There are other phones with similar functionality (eg Nokia 6680 or N70) but they're nearly twice the size!

Like Saab I've just been offered a free upgrade by Orange from my Nokia 6630 to the N70 after only six months!

I visited the Orange Website and logged in to find that I could get the K750i FOC. Tasha is on the same tariff as me (Premier 600) but when we logged in on her account the upgrade was shown to cost £150. Feeling somehow that she was being discriminated against she phoned them to ask why. It turns out, as Garyi has suggested, that it's because my monthly spend is higher than hers. I pay the full £55/month with an average monthly spend of about £75, while Tasha gets the discounted rate of £40 for the first six months. Tasha told the guy that we'd been looking at the website and that I didn't even want the K750i.... He told her to put me on the phone to talk to him.

He asked me what I wanted. I told him I wanted the N70 but it was showing to be out of stock. He said that there were some in stock and did I want one?

Yes was the answer, and I've since found a 20 year-old pay-as-you go buyer who is willing to pay £100 for my mint 6-month-old 6630. Job done, I collect 100 pounds, he gets a bloody nice phone for someone not on a contract. :)

I wouldn't touch a Sony Ericsson because Tasha had a K700i and whilst it was fairly user friendly the joystick was crap, as has already been stated, and the phone looked generally shagged after only a couple of months of living in her handbag.

I like the sony's simple because they are fully compatible with the computer via bluetooth. The software on them can be a bit slow, and on newer models they threw any sense of user interface guidlines out with them two action buttons which thoughout use would swap from being and action to a cancel, god that was frustrating.

I did get a Samsung D500 for 70 quid BNIB from a friend who got delivered two instead of one. I was made up. But here is where Karma kicks in. Really she should have sent it back, but as I got it, within two days I had walked into a corner table and smashed the front screen. Sigh.

I am back as ever to my trusty samsung V550 which although a brick does have superb reception, so essential because I don't travel but do live and work in the sticks.

The N70 is nowhere near twice the size of the 750i,and having a phone that is marginally bigger but works is preferable.I've had nothing but problems with Sonys.

yes thats what I meant, the thing on the bottom of the phone doesn't count as a headphone jack because its not. But yes, they are compatible.

The N70 is a smart phone, K750 is not so theres alot more features in the bigger case. Screen looks bigger too plus as it has 2 cameras I assume it'll do video calling?

Re the sim cards: watch the hotmail adverts, they quite often come up on there :) Max of 6 per customer.

They asume that you will either go over your minutes, or (MOre likely!? ;) ) forget to claim the cashback.
I ran a Nokia 3330, then a '3' clamshell thing & am now on an Orange Motorola V545. Has not cost me a bean (other than calls from/to abroad when on hols) - 200 mins/month + rollover & 4Mb of WAP (or whatever it is - never use it).
Then you can flog the phone after a year & make a little on the deal!

The N70 (like the 6680 before it) is a 3G phone so it can do video calling which is what the 2nd camera on the front is for. The K750i is not 3G but IMO 3G is just gimmicks like video calling and new ways to spend money with your provider (goals and music videos on your phone??? puurrleease  ).

Never had any issues with SE phones and they're lovely to use. The K750i is one of the best all round phones out there at the moment. Having had a P800 for the last 3 years it was a joy to switch to a really small phone again.

Being "in the trade", we get a hell of a lot of problems with Sony Ericsson joy sticks. Of course they will deny this! I try not to supply them if I can avoid it. They are more trouble than they are worth for us.
