new amp!

    there is a busted early border patrol amp on ebay, goodness knows what is wrong, the guy says he put a 300b in the wrong way , and I don't know enough to know what that would do to it.
    I think it would mean the heater current would be going through a transformer winding rated for a lot less, so the mains tx could've been cooked

    Hi Chris,

    I hope that you get your speakers, cable ( & wall) sorted a.s.a.p. Have you had chance to try the amp yet? First impressions would be interesting.

    For information, that Border Patrol amp is different to mine. I think it cost around £2500 to £3000 new. As well as the differences Chris has mentioned, it has smaller output transformer & a some component differences. The difference in sound is that the current version have a better sense of dynamics & grip to the sound.

    Give it a go.
