Possibly because they don't spend all their time when they aren't making third rate albums, mouthing off about how they are Gods gift and how everything else is rubbish compared to them. They set themselves up for it.

lordsummit - I'm amazed that someone like yourself who knows a fair amount about music reckons that Oasis are any good  . They really are utterly talentless and surpremely unoriginal. OK, the first album had some catchy tunes but since then they've just been attempting to regurgitate the same old cr@p with ever diminishing levels of success.

By contrast, whilst I don't like everything that Eminem has done he is clearly very talented and also pretty original (as far as anything in pop music can be original). Also by contrast, U2 were pretty good and stayed original for quite some time allthough they seem to have seriously lost the plot recently.

This thread reminds me of the truly excellent HMHB song 'Bad Review'.

'You hacks don't know where it's at
You can't appreciate the masters of the Strat
Not that I'm concerned ('course you're not)
You paper's full of crap (course it is)
I only read the gig guide, anyway'

Then you where quite clearly wrong in your assumption....  ( ;) ) .

I'm also looking forward to the new Coldplay album and yet again I'll be buying this on both formats. I know that they also get loads of stick and there was even a thread running that critisised the recording quality of their albums, Parachutes in particular. I reckon that A rush of Blood to the head is a fantastic LP. I had one weird problem with it and that was that of the 3 copies that i tried all 3 had minute hairline scratches over the entire surface. This was caused by the fact that the LP inner sleeve was a top quality glossy item , but internally it shed lots of cardboard dust. The record was such good quality though that even with these visible scratches it is still one of my albums with the queitest background noise ( ie 'almost' silent !).

    Ramble on .... :)

Derivative they may be, and maybe I've been lucky enough to see them in their home town, but every gig they've played has been blinding. I can't see anything wrong with simple songs performed well.

You should play the "bom, bom, bom,...ay-i-ya" bit backwards. It sounds just like the new Oasis single.

Just got my e-mail from the Oasis record shop , my Vinyl LP of the new album is on it's way and in the post . I know nearly everybody loves to hate them but I'm quite looking forward to this one, especially after watching the recent DVD interview from last weeks Sunday Times. Gem and Andy Bell are quite clearly good musicians, don't seem to be druggies or binge drinkers and sound reasonably intelligent for supersonic rock star, hell they don't even like football, now that must be a first for an Oasis band member !

I'm working all weekend and also have a head gasket to change on my wifes Punto so I'll probably not get much of a listen until late on next week.

    And another thing:

I originally had the record pre-ordered on Amazon UK but switched to http://www.recordstore.co.uk via the Oasis website as they would ship the record at least one day before official release. ( which is on Monday , I got mine this morning - Sat) and it was a couple of quid cheaper.

You get what you pay for though, the corners of the record are both bent as they sent it in a flimsy cardboard record mailer with no corrugated liners- therefore i don't recommend this particular mail order company for vinyl purchases.

Both happy and pissed off within two minutes of the postmans knock and now i've got to go to bloody work....
