new scientist

If several people hear the same effect ..individual hearing differences can possibly be discounted. More interesting is what people listen for rather than how [well for me anyway].

A simple test that nearly everyone can do pinkfloyds dsotm track 3 has the alarm clocks .....does this make you jump even if you know the first chime is coming ?

I use this test on equipment and cables if that first chime is smeared, so no sudden start, then theres obviously something not right.

try a freebie cable against say a qed quinex then use a good cable ......if your having problems hearing a difference then you have resolution issues elsewhere.

I listened and compared last night and this evening. The music sounds airier and more accessible, with greater depth and width in staging terms, as well as displaying an extended, smoother and more linear tonal range. There's also a sense of natural flow and rhythm so often absent from other, more self-conscious interconnect designs. Indeed, flow is a good description in this context, relevant not only to the electronic functionality of this interconnect, but also to the unencumbered progress of the music. With The B&D Iron in the system, the sound has such natural intent and such smooth dynamics that the 'electronic' element is effectively filtered out.....hang on a minute, my mistake...that's a review of the £200 VDH 2. Well the Iron sounds the same, so it'll do.

I think there might be a market for your B&D Iron Cable on ebay.

Perhaps you could post the model and serial no. of the iron concerned, and also any advice regarding the burning-in period, so that others can replicate what sounds like quite an advance in hi-fi cable technology.

Or are these trade secrets now?

But not psychological process towhich all humans are culpable...

Let see it identified under rigourous conditions.

Ha! What they remind my of are the old fashioned interconnects on the stereogram my uncle made in the '50's. Thin twisted pair individually screened with cream/brown/khaki-ish coloured cotton braid. I'll have to look for some old twin twist lighting flex and ebay them as retro.

On a more serious note I thoroughly object to the implied slight further down that New Scientist page to my home town of Corby...okay, I'll admit it's not somewhere you'd choose to live, but up to my mid-twenties I was convinced it was a wonderful place...a bit religious about the matter really, despite the evidence, not unlike some folks with audio cable.
