If it sounds fine leave it as it is. Life's too short.

But equally theres nothing wrong with trying to get the best out of what you've got

They are very good, the amps also...so forget what Merlin said ! What does he know anyway. If like me you a Quadrophile you probaley don't care anyway !!

All I will say is try it - besides many Quad lovers have recommended the partnership with McIntosh valves over the years, Steingruber in particular favouring the MC275/'57 partnership.

The new MC275 is a stunning amplifier for the money and works wonderfully with panels.

I'm very happy with my new kit, and don't care if X or Y sounds better to some ears, to me its sublime and very probably my last amp purchase. The ESL's are probably my last speaker purchase.

I only really care that its better than what it replaced, I have been a little dissapointed at the small gains I have had upgrading amps in the past but this is a massive jump in sound.

Thanks for all the advice, I will experiment at some point but right new I'm listening. :MILD:

you may need a bit more space behind them. If they are toed in less that too might help... If like me you a Quadrophile you probaley don't care anyway !!

Make certain you use decent IC and speaker cables as they do make a difference.

If they come in any further I cant open the door  I have had an electrician swap the light switch to the other side of the door, and waiting for a joiner to hang a new door opening the other way just so I can bring them further out.

As for becoming a Quadrophile (I'd be content with just a threesome :p ) I am getting that way, even tempted with deming the 99cdp but I love the Copland.

I use monocrystal cables from Ecosse Ic, speaker and mains cables.

Think its a pretty innocuous one, never had any probs before adam brought it to my attention, I still use photobucket, I just do a wash when I've been on their site, it's a principal thing.

Looks very nice. And when you manage to get the speaker out of the corner a bit more, your music will sound that bit better.

Thanks Markus, once I get the door hung the other way I can move the speakers out a bit more I have already had the light switch swapped over. It sounds so good its hard to imagine it could get better.

Now I'm settled on my kit I will build myself a better rack, this is just 4 shelves from my old modular rack screwed together its much wider than it needs to be as it was built around the huge nu-vista. The new one will have a front with a cloth insert (so remote works) I have bought some of the Quad grille cloth to use.
