Yeah, but hear her on the Stevie Wonder classic albums like 'Fullfilingness', and you wouldn't be put off mate..

Didn't she die young? I refuse to register with the new snooping All-music.com, so I shall stay in blissfull ignorance

    Hi Chris(Botleneck)

Minnie Ripperton is a mighty fine singer. One of the better singers around. GrahamC has pointed out, she has sang with Stevie Wonder & was part of his group of backing singers called "Wonderlove". She was performed with people like Ramsey Lewis, Quicy Jones & Etta James.

She first sang with a group called Rotary Connection. They are a sort of psychedelic Jazz/Funk/Soul group who released some interesting stuff. She has a five to six octave range which would be suited to opera. She cut an number of solo songs first on Chess records in the 60s then some more in the 70s. She has produced some very fine pieces of work. Some of her tunes have a very welcomed place in my record & cd collection.

I wouldn't write someone of her talents off on the strength of one song.

    Hi GrahamC,

Minnie developed breast cancer in the early 70s and had a mastectomy. She carried on performing. She also made it public and spent alot of her time promoting breast cancer awareness. This helped alot of women in the US & increased public awareness. She gained a award for her work from the then President Jimmy Carter. The cancer came back and she past away in the 1979. She was 31.

P.s. Fopp may have some of her cds in for £5.
