Thanks for all the suggestions, seem a bit of demming is on for this weekend. Either that or the more simple option of a bribe for the missus!!

I would suggest arranging some dems of very expensive speakers (the Harbeth Monitor 30s would suit you well ~ seriously), take your wife with you and when you tell her that they're £2000 I'm sure she'll be happy(ier!) to learn to love the Yams!

Well quite...I've just had a quote to Piano gloss them and it's not so bad. I think that given the cost of finding suitable replacements I'm going to go down that route instead. Besides listening to Lou Donaldson last night there is just no way I can give them up!

Yeah thats what I thought!! It also gives me a chance to recap the crossovers if necessary, rewire the internals and stick on some sensible binding posts.

One thing that amazes me is the detail these things dig up it's quite remarkable and I just don't think I could live with anything less now. UIt feels like I have only been listening to half of what's on my records.

ya your going about it the wrong way, if you like the sound of your hifi, it would be eaiser to trade in the wife for a different model, more choice! :p
    Good luck with the gloss.

proacs have some magic to them.

anything to compete with the ns1000s? hmm tricky...ah yes jamo concert 8s or harbeth compact 7s which are a bit urgly with the grills off too.

not sure what to think about wives, yes we should take into account their wishes, but I feel some, no a lot of the time they ' control ' the house and they ought to accomodate us, too.

I know someone who's just has his stuff been turfed out of the spare room!! they start to take over.

back on track...monitor audio stu 20s? look good.
