As you've lowered the tone a bit:), let's restore the status quo with this beauty (yes, it's a BMW:D).

Ah, the days when cars had character, style. If money was no object I'd have a Daimler SP250 Dart. However, if all goes to plan, I'll shortly be getting my hands on one of these.......

Well all did go to plan and I got my hands on this one :boogie::boogie:

Cheers DAvidF,

It's a blast to drive!

I'm off to visit it as it's staying with a friendly mechanic on the South Coast at the moment and fully expect to be terrorising Bexhill in it this week. Will try to find the time to get out of it and take some more pix

Beautiful! Reminds me of my red Mk.4 Spitfire (long gone). Any problems with scuttle shake?

That is a handsome car badchamp, you lucky bugger, do you mind me asking how much it was? I had a mk1 triumph 2000 with (I think) approximately the same engine, although that was quite a heavy car so it was far from being sporty!

I can't help thinking now, and back then even as a kid, that the X19 was slightly wrong. Mind you, it's main competitor was the TR7 iirc, jesus what happened to the UK car industry in the 70's?!

Thanks, lovely innit! No, no scuttle shake, but have just got the list of things which do need to be done. (carb overhaul and pasenger floor repair for starters) Hmmmm....now where's that spare kidney of mine :D

After some heavy negotiation  we settled on £3250. Not a bad price considering the £200 electronic ignition, Yokohama tyres, minilite alloys etc. I must say I feel quite privileged to be the owner of such an old car. Ooooh the responsibility :D

Very nice Jeff.

Here's another. Perhaps not the most complimentary colour.

Dev,

Great call. We had a hardtop maroon Jensen 541s (i think) at our show the other week. It was in fantastic condition and looked absolutely stunning. I'd almost have swapped the GT6 for it :D I was surprised to find out the body was all fibreglass. Lovely car - close to supplanting the Dart as my "money no object" classic !

Cheers

Propbably a sound price ifits as clean as it looks.

Looks very nice!

1965 or 1966 Pontiac GTO

Not exactly "green" considering the price of gasoline these days, but it sounds so mean when prowling.

1969 Plymouth SuperBird is also fun, but the used market now is looking for $80,000 for one of these.

Old corvettes are also nice (pre-62).

Obscene amount of money for an old car :)

Wonder if he's got a decent hifi!

BRG is great on vintage Bentleys etc, but I've seen the Austin Healeys in lighter colours (metallic light silver/blue for example) and IMO they suit the car better.

P.S. I think the Austin Healey is just green, not BRG, which is a lot darker.
