Outboard DAC

Whats all this then? Im not a DACie sort of bloke really.

Guess what Im really asking is..

When I get my new DAC do I need to fart about with the transport in some way... a clock link or summat?

:newbie: ohoh me no clever.

Or is it just a way of adding a smidge more doodah to your wotsit?

Chris, no you're ok mate, it's just us Nth degree of whack merchants trying to extract the music, some dac's arn't so sensitive to transports as others, and having compared the sigma 2 to my humble effort, I can conclude it's warm lusious mid range should completement your Micromega pretty well Chris and helps that Groove thang well. a touch laid back for me, but a prize buy all the same Tone

Chris,

Clock links between DAC and tranny are usually proprietary jobbies. You need to be fairly up with the old digital audio tech. to "roll your own", but basically it would involve adding a clock output to your DAC and an input to your tranny (and, most likely, removing the clock on the tranny) so that the clock on the DAC drives the transport.

Not a beginners DIY project IMO  Depending on how you did it, it could also have the unfortunate side effect of making your transport only work with an external clock (until you undid the mods).

Is it worth it? WM can tell you :D

Im shipping it straight to the emporium, who has quoted somewhere in the grey and misty ground between £25 and £100 for the voltage conversion.

:-) cant wait.... unfortunately no choice though hahaha

NB
IF anyone needs a 'balanced XLO digital interconnect' Im going to have one spare, as my new DAC isnt balanced. PM me if you need one.
