Now found a couple of jumpers and am running the cart at 100 ohms. The inside of the lid is now tinfoiled as well, and, thanks to WM, I've even got a piece of magic dishcloth laid across the top of it... Still had a few problems this afternoon, but not as bad by a long way. Will see what happens over the next few days. -- Ian
Well, it's slightly better at 100ohms with tinfoil shielding, but not better enough. Back to an external phono stage for me, I give up. As a side note, WM's sheet of ERS (the magic dishcloth with claimed RFI-reduction properties) doesn't appear to do anything at all, at least not in this application. I've tried it both inside and outside the case, with precisely zero discernible effect. Sorry guys, I think the claims for this product need to be taken with a large pinch of salt; whatever it does (if anything) it certainly doesn't make any audible difference to a very audible RFI problem. -- Ian
I've tried several different cables, with no real improvement, another reason for thinking it's the board that's at the root of the problem. The dealer has suggested that they have had some other reports of other users with similar issues, and is happy to take it back, so that's what I'll be doing. So much for reducing the box count... -- Ian
You realise this is divine intervention for removing valves from your system dont you? So whats it going to be? (phono stage wise?) PS you could always get a small one (like that dinky Benz one ) and hide it..
hi Chris, since the dealer carries the Trichord Dino, and it's approx the same price as the ATC board, that's what it's going to be. Unless it turns out to be crap. -- Ian
Dino Well, the Dino's in and been running for the last couple of hours. Not a single interference problem (compared to the ATC board, with which I was experiencing noise problems on average once or twice per side). It sounds pretty good too, nicely detailed, with just a touch of midrange warmth that's probably no bad thing in my otherwise lean setup. Thumbs up so far. -- Ian
