PMC and home decor...

Yes but not the small but vocal minority of atc owners that you listen to ;-)

Yes I detected a certain mellowing since you started to consider SME ;)

I am just about to buy active mb2s - I can sell you my passive triamped mb2s with bryston amps for a very good price!

As I understand it, the problem with the PMCs is that the bass is fake.

I totally agree with that statement. An extremely coloured loudspeaker IMHO (please, no come-backs about which recording studio's use them, means diddly-squat to me).

But then from reading posts on this forum I know that many like them, I just think they are totally overated.

If you heard colouration with the large three way monitors then it was elsewhere in the system.

Ah well, I was going to challenge Nick on his rather grandiose statement that 3-way PMCs don't have colouration, but on second thought, life's too short.

You really should listen to them Markus... before you buy those ATCs. Any closer to a decision yet?

Brizon, mail me how much you'll advertise the tri mb2 rig for. Would make an excellent system for our xbox 360 in the games room. :JPS:

And it is? Markus I would suggest you listen to them first so dont be too hasty to emphasis. I reckon its you anyway you just dont want to admit it!

I fear you give my opinions little credance bub... for now.

Nick, your PM box is full (blimey, how do manage that here?).

He currently has a Gamut D200. The room isn't that big, but it is open to the stairs which link his roof study to the part of the house below. His bass tends to disappear down the stairs, so to speak, which is why he wants to try something really big.

You sure about the price? He was offered a pair (in studio black) for about 7.500 Euros new, I believe, which is about 5k quid.

I have emptied my inbox please PM me privately. I get a lot of emails here.

I am sure about the price - verify for yourself at:

www.cornflake.co.uk/pricelists/shop.pdf

Note that this price does not include the stands. I expect he was offered the pair of mb1s they have kicking around. The gamut will likely struggle. I would advise a minimum 4m by 6m room.
