What do you think? I really liked the Graafs Ive heard. Float your boat or looking for something different?
It floated my boat..... I took the Graaf over to Ditton's last night and I was well impressed with the music we were hearing. Seemed to work better in Ditton's system than in mine, it balances out nicely with the DAX. Whereas in mine, I think the use of a Sugden pre-amp is just a bit too warm. I think he was impressed too, but he's away for a few days so we'll no doubt get a report then.
just to add brief echo - or is it soundstage -to that remark. It sounds very refined, very articulate and realistic, but I've only had chance to play accoustic so far - my music room is shared with family as principal living room and I've not yet had the chance either to play a full range of stuff at various volumes and do some A/B. voice is very clear, as is Miles and his sextet, and Davey Graham's guitar, and ... but fuller report to come once I'm back from travels. he's a gent that alanbeeb!
Ditton, Is Cary electronics available to you in Scotland? If so you might try the Rocket 88, I have one and I think it is wonderful, they also make a six pack which people over here rave about. I am talking valves ( tubes to us Canuks ). Bob
thanks for the suggestions, I'm working my way through google/reviews/listening. had some problems with that [oldsmobile] Rocket88 from [Maria] Carey, but then struck lucky with http://www.caryaudio.com/reviews/absound.shtml looks interesting. am checking out one of those Class D chaps this weekend.
