Biggest knob I know of (apart from Phil Collins), is on the Audio Analogue Maestro..
    Sounds terrible, but looks great!

Knobs don't look that big but the big valves are the size of coke bottles, knobs about the size of a large "vitamin pill" container, bloody huge.

    Hmm.

I changed the volume pot and selector pot on my pre, and they didnt fit the existing knobs anymore.

I now have knobs of different sizes, colours and shapes on my pre!

I dont give a flying flock though, so I am anti-knob waving I guess!!

It just seemed like a waste of 30 quid at the time. Maybe I'll get matching ones one day. It really seems frivolous to me though. I'd almost always rather buy some CD's or LPs.

Hey ST that last pic's your kinda amp think the ps draws about 4 kilowatts. Its a beast of a thing, you'd need 2 normal sized amp stands for it.

Well, it may draw 4kw, but 90% of that will be doubling up as an electric fire possibly, please define Normal, its a word that isn't in my limited vocabulary, humans limited concept format carbon based life forms, though highly rated on the amusement scale.
Bigger is better eh?, Humm such quaint concepts, much murth is appriecated sir !!!

    topless with a big knob

    Inside a TACT RCS2.2X.

You can spin the big knob all you like, it's read optically by the look of it. The big spring and bracket is there to hold the knob on.

Surely the Tri Vista Integrated Amp would be up there with the biggest, and what is more, “it has two of them†:p

The thing is Andy/Datty/Oedipus, if you completely remove the 'mess' on the left hand side and site out of the box, the preformance of the tact rises expernatialy, even before I get the soldering Iron out, to sort the rest out :) (Insert no opamps changes here :D )

The 'Nice' PC psu, a veritable fountain of RFI and sound quality reducing side effects all rolled into one nasty package, well basically its a gloryfied PC anyway.
However it does work well & many a bod loves it :)

The Levinson No.32 Preamp has the best feel for my money, but I agree the TACT has the sheer girth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the one on my NAC72 (OK, so it's Naim, so shoot me!). In fact, both the source select and volume pots are nice - a really good feel to them. Shame about the crappy little monitor/balance controls, but at least the fascia's symmetrical :)

    Dual Knobbed

As you say, it does seem to work:) But I was surprised they hadn't put a shield around the psu, and I wasn't impressed by those IDC cables to the analog board either!

Anyway, time for some more knobs....

This is a picture of my "headphone" pre-amp, made by a very small company/one man band. This pre-amp was independently measured by The Audio Critic, and it has astonishingly good numbers and is therefore "transparent".

Anyway, it has only two inputs. (Wm you'll be pleased to know the PSU box (on right) is a conventional torroidal/bridge/regulator arrangement.) I'm not sure I like the use of XLR's for power (seems like an accident waiting to happen, what with all the balanced cables I've got running around..)

Now, here's the good bit... look at the picture.. TWO VOLUME knobs, one for left, one for right, so you have to fiddle with both knobs to get the volume up/down. I thought it was insane, but after about 2 minutes, I decided it was better than volume/balance - especially for phones..
