Low light pics can be really noisy/grainy, disappointingly so.

That'd be the camera auto increasing the ISO speed (i.e. >ISO1000) to maintain a reasonably fast shutter speed in low light conditions. Worth getting an idea of what the cameras doing but you really do need a tripot (or unusually steady hands) to get good stuff in low light.

A camerman buddy of me taught me a great trick to hold the camera steady, basically take a breath and open the shutter as you SLOWLY breath out. There's a tendacy to hold your breath when trying to hold a camera steady but that's not a good idea. Try it, it works for me.

autumn time...this is quite close to Hamsertly Forest -

I have more pics to follow just that due to the size of the inital pic (3mb) it took ages to download this one nevermind 5 more...

I love autum. Just walking about this MOrning I must have seen leaves of just about every colour imaginable. Shame it's pissing down or I'd be out with the camera now. Some nice pic's there mr cat.

I await Isaac to post his moon pic from a few years ago.

as promised - more pics of the autumn - this is close to hamsterly forest again -

Well, I took this picture of the moon a while ago. It looked so beautiful by eye. It was about 1am and I bothered to come back with the camera (only 20-30 yards from the house admittedly!).

Sadly it didn't come out in the picture so well. The moon was much less red, more white, and the clouds passing over it were more visible and 'moody'. The flowers also didn't seem so orange/red when lit by the streetlamp off-side. I like the way you can see some of the stars though. Ahh well…

Some cracking autumnal colours up there catboy! I liked the gargoyle on the previous page - kinda Exorcist influenced :-)

good attempt there Tenson - depending on the zoom you have - you'd probably need to adjust the exp setting to the lowest setting there is (mine is '-2') and that gets rid of any excess light (not the most techincal term I know!) - but you'll be able to see some more detail...

yeah Rod - that gargoyle is at Bowes museum at barnard castle...!
