Spikes = to much bass???

Why Michael?
have i made comments related to what he has posted recently?
Ive not been winding him up, i just ignore it now. But looking at some threads, and reading between the lines, it is not hard to work out the gist of it.
I answered with a '.' why would that say i read it?
You made this comment to me before, I asked then aswell.

If i wanted to read what he says i would remove him from my ignore list.

Yesterday i decided to put some aluminium cones between slab and floor. ... there is now to much bass resonance.

...Any other ideas?

Take the aluminium cones out and go back to how it was before! What am I missing here?

Only because you mad a post immediately after his which consisted of just a full stop and judging by my own weakness for sneaking peaks at ignored posts when I've used the feature before (on other forums).

Didn't mean to imply anything, sorry if there was a misunderstanding :)

Michael.

I couldnt find any suitable soft type things to try instead of spikes.

Any other ideas?
Socks, blankets, inner tubes, sheets, string vests :D

It depends what you have lying around. Try everything.

Hey, what about spongey things? Try your local supermarket.

Funny Andy you're having a similair problem to me in that the bass can overwhelm the room. I've moved them out a foot further but that's my lot as far as SWMBO is concerned, and there's no room for plinths really or Mana, it'd be an absolute nightmare if not impossible getting it level on an uneven sandstone floor. It's much better now, but still not perfect, especially on bass heavy tracks.
I've even once or twice considered changing them again, but then I put something on and they sound so beguiling that I soon forget that idea. I've sort of compromised in that there is obviously a big room node in my room, but unusually it's the ceiling that's the problem, I've got beams and not so solid floors up above, so it's this vibrating. TBH I can't see whatever I do making much difference to this. Guess I'll just have to live with it.
Did you get the spikes n' stuff sorted?

Never got spikes from ML:rolleyes: got some bass ones from WM :)

I feel much the same way, sometimes it is to much, i think of changing, but wonder what there is.
The bass at the moment, is either overblown and ill defined or recessed and detached.

Not wanting to be funny, but this does rather echo my experience with transmission lines many years ago. Since then I have decided to steer well clear of them.

I am not really sure what to suggest over and above what the others have. Perhaps some siesmic sink type support or even some Mana  might help some.

Robbo, Do you mean the either overblown or detached bit?

I think they were better as was, but then they had the recessed thing going on. I have thought about the m**** thing and a sink, maybe i should just play some more.

Do you mean the either overblown or detached bit?

err, both :D I had a big pair of TDL transmission lines and the bass was sloooww and massively overblown with bass heavy music. Never again.

The meadowlarks are much better than these though.

LoL, yea ML are slightly different to TDL. (Father had TDl, but then he just likes BASS!!!)
Thing is, I like most of what they do, just need to sort this one wee little thing.

Saab???

Last night i moved them around a bit, ended up with only about another 2" into the room and toed in a little bit more. Sounds much more balanced.
Happier with it now, amazed at how such a small movement can make a difference.
When i get more time, i will mark out the current position and play around some more, just to see if i can squeeze more out of it.
