Just to add a little weight to Tom's plea, not even using the largest available spacings I could easily house my 32" telly inside a Hutter rack if I wanted to. Just how big is this TEAC?

Hutter

Sorry guys. Hutter is your cup of tea but it is, for my taste, a little german or is it sort of 70's sideboard? Its not my cup of tea. The build your own on a monster seismic sink (cos that's the issue) is probably the option.
Thanks

Sorry A1000, Hutter's even worse than you thought. Like Hitler, its Austrian.

Still looks a little german? Austrain - Bavarian or Helvetian, it looks a little german to me.

Or shall I stick with 70's side board?

Weren't these guys handing out flyers at Bristol a couple of years back? Downstairs where Quad had a set up in a little marquee in a big room full of noise?

Quadraspire Reference - sound brilliant, looks according to taste.

A fully modular design with rods available in different lengths to accommodate different sized kit.

Also the shelves have holes cut out of them to improve sound quality further and this may help with ventilation.

Its home dealer Audioworks sells lots of Accuphase to go with it.

Thankyou for the Quadraspire info I have seen and touched and they look very acceptable stylistically but the large is still TOO small, by half an inch.

Might have to go for an AV product.

Im kinda fond of my HNE rack :)

As solid as a very solid thing.

I got mine second hand from Tom on this forum, but theyre great value new I think considering they're made of granite.

Chris,

It certainly does look good. I have my eye on a new rack to combine AV and hifi and the HNE would look very nice in my room:)

Yep, that would be exactly the ticket. Very nice. Lucky you bottleneck getting it second hand too.
I've seen these at the show and I thought their price prohibitive but I am now considering that it would be worth it. Bouncy floor and all that.

Just used google to find them see where you got the nice picture.
Mailing them I'll keep you updated.

Hiya,

Ive got an old brochure. Seeing as some people might be interested, heres what you can (could?) get:

Price depends on shelf size (because its granite of course)

3 shelf size 550/400
350 quid

4 shelf same size
470 quid

3 shelf AV like mine and the picture 1100/420
780 quid

I think thats cheap as chips given its hardwood (choice of - I think its choice of STAIN however) and granite (choice of).

you can have the legs any length no extra cost, and price includes delivery!

Kinda makes the glass/steel ones look ... costly I think in comparison.

Chris

Yes Chris, that HNE av rack is cracking looker :) not too in your in face either, one of the other reasons for going to a one box, was space, plus the middle shelf with all the processors on, had to 10mm thick it weighed 68KG with the power conditioner :(
Now, in the new year, I'm on the scout about for something a little less industrial, then my present extremely fuctional, but has an 'off shore look' Wm

That does look nice. Certainly for the money, I'd go with that before a great many other off the shelf racks. However, for now I'll stick with the homebrew.

I'm contemplating building my own shelving system. I want to source some nice big old Oak panels, perhaps an old door Jamb, beaten up like, and make something that looks rustic, but beautiful.

I did a similar thing with some shelves in my front room, they are about 1.5 inches thick, and look quite beaten up, but they're all nicely sanded smooth.

For the uprights (of which there would be 3), I'd use cast Iron rods, painted black. The turntable shelf would be spiked, as would the bottom of each support.

Now all I need to do is find some Oak thats the right size and thickness. It shouldn't cost too much, maybe a fiver per foot.

If I have some left, I might replace the knobs on my amps, to reduce vibrations :p

I wonder if HNE could knock up some inert Granite highly polished knobs. They would obviously knocj the wood ones into a cocked hat as far as sound quality goes:lol:

Thick oak resonates like buggery Tom. I've got 45mm thick solid oak shelves in my front room and they vibrate so much I couldn't use them as a decent equipment support. Ended up using Target wall shelves instead.
