The biggest hi-fi bargain

Pair of 201s for 18 quid. How green am I? :) Oh and Thorsten did you mean the dacmagics? or the much harder to come by DAC3 with mulitple TDA1541as?

The biggest hi-fi bargain is ATC active monitors. Streets ahead of anything passive I've ever heard.

Go get 'em boys. There's a size for every room.

For the biggest bargain, Im going to go with the Glasshouse 300B integrated valve amp.

This kit is available for around 700 pounds, ..

Its all point to point wired with no PCBs ......,

BN,

Did you had a chance to listen (I didn't) to either the Prima Luna Prologue One or - Two. They seem to share the same price range and description and both reviewers and owners are very enthousiastic about them.

HI Erik,

Those Prima Luna's appear to be push pull KT-88 amps?

My personal preference lies with 300B Single Ended amps, and thats why I picked the Glasshouse, as it is to my knowledge the best value for money 300B single ended amp in Britain at this moment. If there are others for less, I dont know them. I also know the company and know that the parts/construction quality are high.

When it comes to push pull amps, there are a lot in the 400-1000 pounds mark, and from your good experiences it sounds like the Prima Luna amps are worth auditioning for someone in that market.

HI Erik,

Thanks for the explanation

The smaller One is a EL34 (35 watt), the bigger Two a KT88 (45 watt) amp.
They're both based on the Chinese Cayin TA-30 of which a Dutch hifi- importer aquired 'all'the rights. The components are produced in the Cayin factory.

I yet have to hear the Prima Luna myself but responses in Holland are very positive indeed.
