EPOS ES14. INFURIATINGLY awkward, and won't work properly until you buy three trillion quids' worth of source/amps.

Swapped for Dynaudio Audience 52s and never looked back.

As for cursed hardware, my Sony 525 DVD. Lipsync bugs, drive errors, and no recourse as it was a Techtronics-modded one. To cap it off, I bought it over a Pioneer because the Pioneer range of the time had lipsync bugs!

Oh - and also a Sony CDP-M12 midi CD player from 1991 - jumped on perfect discs, and was on the test bench for 3 months of its first year. Came back with a new laser that was misaligned and thus caused EVEN MORE errors, and the tech had left blutak in the mech so a disc got stuck in it as well, so it had to go back for another 2 months! Truly ****e.

Yes, but genuinely happy people, IME, don't usually feel the need to bang on about how blissfully happy they are. Everybody has personal problems & issues from time to time, and life has its ups & downs, but reading some people's posts on hi-fi forums gives the impression of a continuous, rather fake Utopia.

Luckily for them there are people prepared to post absolute crap* in an attempt to bring them back down. :(

I think that's one of things we do agree on. Truely awful things. BTW, WM, have you seen the new "affordable" Esoteric range that includes a switching PSU/digital amp?

You probably wouldn't say that if you heard my Ditton 66s.
Or mebbe you would.. Each to their own, although I've always found Mission to be dreadful. And Martin Logan to be over-hyped and over-priced.
And I actually liked the Lumley Lampro 400s...

    Hi Joel,

Yes I've seen the 'lesser' of the 2 trans/dac set ups.
My Brother owns the P01-D01 stunning without question.
Haven't seen their new switcher though.
How is Joel and Co & the land of the rising son :)

Putting my heretic hat on, I'd say the B&W 803 has to rank as the most uniformaly disapointing speakers I've ever listened to long term. The company rather than me personally is the owner however.

Not a speaker but the most rubbish product I ever owned was an Audiolab 8000A- the most overhyped amp of the last 20 years no question.

The intention of my thread was my interest in cursed hardware, hardware that in itself performs ok but may be possesed.

For example a new amplifier that sounded great but caused your pets to start speaking tounges.
or maybe a new set of speakers that made a dead girl appear in the middle of your sitting room whenever you played them after midnight.

p.s. Devil have you considered the fact that someone may just be truthfully happy and likes to share their experiences with others?

Does your partner not make you feel great? or do you not have enough to offer, or lack the personal skills to make her happy?
You did have one astute observation, i do not talk like this in public as it tends to embarass her. that is what forums are for, a place to express your true feelings without fear of being judged.

Peter, you have happiness to share (congrats!), James currently has misery to share (not partner-related) but makes a bad job of it.

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.

    Dear Devil

I think you might be surpressing your own homo-erotic fantasies, you've been fascinated by girly-men in the past and now its blissfully happily married men that seem to excite you.I think you need to let it all out.Or just wear rubber and bark like a dog maybe?

Whilst they're certainly not the worst speakers ever made, I partially hate my Signums because I enter a state of absolute dread every time I turn the volume above "10". They're on their second pair of woofers already (Italian engineering hey  ), and I've only had them five months.

Living in abject fear of "big dynamic swings" is no fun, let me tell you ;)

Nah, the worst speakers are the ones that you bring home and your spouse files for divorce. ;)

Heh, the worst speakers? Depends on the room. Gotta say I've never heard a pair of Kefs sounds any better than awful, and I've only ever heard Linn Kans and Saras sound downright terrible, though many people assure me they sound great when done properly. However, bearing in mind their cost, the £13k Zingalis I heard at Audio Salon a couple of weeks back would take some beating - one word: harsh!
