Unison Research unico

James,

I have been out of contact for a few days and have only just seen your post. The Unico is a delightful amp that will astound you with its wonderful sonics. I had grown tired of the glassy sheen I was experiencing with my Naim 72/APX2/140 and wanted something that still had timing and drive but could also provide air, sweetness and above all reality.

After many months of listening I eventually heard the Unico and it blew away anything else up to £1500. It has everything I was looking for and at a bargain basement price. However, I eventually asked to hear the Unico SE (140W per channel and an inbuilt phono stage) and was hooked. It must be the bargain of the century.

I am sure you will not be disappointed. It does take some time to fully break in but even out of the box it will surprice you. The mid band is delicate, the bass taut and full and the highs have no gloss or sheen. Instruments and voices sound so real and tactile, you will rediscover your music collection.

I have had mine for 3 months now and it just keeps getting better. Let us know how you get on when it arrives.

Happy listening,

ft

Cheers for the detailed write up mate. You have confirmed what I have suspected. :) :)

It's not comming anymore however :( I will keep looking. :MILD:

Mr. Wig,

I've no idea what the Unico is like, although it looks OK. IME, if you are experiencing issues in the bass department I'd look at the Jura's. Whilst they can be a fun 'speaker, I've always found them a bit loose and wobbly in the bass.

Regards,

Stuart.

Yep I agree... however the foam bungs and positioning have really got the best out of the really nice tweeters and I am loathed to throw that away having put so much effort in.

Also at a recent bake off some very (very very) nice amps really got hold of the Jura's and they made some really loverrrly sounds.

(Parasound pre and Advantage S250 mono blocks  Also the Krell MD-10 and Monarchy Audio DAC may have helped :D )

Any way, I have heard the very best they can do and it is a long way from where i am now.
