Those little PC speakers behind the sofa, would they be Artis ones perchance? Look exactly the same as mine!

Um the screen and keyboard look nice, the computer unfortunately looks like anything from PC world.

    Best so far though Chris.

The beer is added points because I don't have any and I want some.

They are Creative Soundworks 4.1 but I suspect they are probably rebadged by a few companies. They are sitting on the subwoofer (ha ha).
It's a cut above most of the crap in PC world. It's quite a smart finish up close. Doesn't look cheap like some do. The internals have been tinkered with so it's very quiet. I'll put it in a home theatre case one of these days.

The fact it works is clear evidence it is not from DSG (Dixons Retail Group) :D

    Here's my mess:

PC is an AMD Athlon XP 2500, 1GB RAM, Asus AN78NX-VM400 motherboard, ATI Radeon 9200SE, 160GB, 80GB and 40GB (40GB in external USB case behind monitor) HDDs, CD-RW and DVD+/-RW drives, SB Audigy2, LeadTek TV2000 Expert XP TV card. No floppy drive - shared USB drive with ThinkPad, USB 7-in-1 card reader, Mitac 15" TFT FPD. Running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Hi-Fi visible to the right. IBM ThinkPad X20 (P3/600, 320MB RAM and 20GB HDD) not visible. Currently running Xandros Linux 2.5.

Encore electric guitar not visble (to the right of chest of drawers along with nearly 600 audio CDs). All gadgets pretty much at arms-length!

TonyL - from the picture it looks like your laptop etc. are on the floor. That must get bloody uncomfortable after a while (unless you're Japanese I suppose).

The beauty of a laptop is it can be used anywhere, but I spend a surprising amount of time lying on the floor typing. I'm not sure why – it just isn't uncomfortable, but probably should be. Currently I'm on dial up, so it means farting about with wires to move it about much, and the stereo sounds pretty damn good down there, very wide stereo! I'm hopefully moving soon and I plan to get wireless broadband in the next place (the laptop has wi-fi), so things will be more flexible.

I've also got an old and outdated home built desktop in another room (Duron 750 / 384Mb / several smallish hard disks). I recently rebuilt it so it just has Win 2k SP4 and all current patches, Zone Alarm and Nero on it. It is a backup server and CD cutter, no other apps are installed – its purely a secure backup machine so I can get online if I have a problem with the laptop. I'm tempted to turn it into a Linux box at some point just for the hell of it (I'll probably dual boot it).

    Tony.

Ah, so you prefer silver effect plastic to brushed aluminium. Now I know where I am going wrong :D

Garyi - is that "thing" on the right a subwoofer? Very sexy, but still a Mac :duck:

When I can be arsed to find out what the webspace is on my EuroSmell/TeleWorst account, I'll put a photo of mine up. Since I've not updated my website since September 03 though, I'd not hold your breath.

This is my new PC case: [IMG]

and this is the rest of the PC/desk, from 2001 (yep, my PC bits are THAT old, barring the new PC case/innards):

Hey Dom, the speakers are infact Harmon Kardon, so you could buy them without any 'apple' taint.

    Heres mine...

Thats my extremely ugly but spacious cube case, rather spoils the look of the whole setup there, but after a week I moved it to the floor and now I'm at uni, it lives on the floor, so it doesn't matter so much.

Specs, well its an XP2500, with a gig of ram, Radeon 9800 Pro, Abit NF7-S v2.0 motherboard, 2x 36GB 10k rpm WD Raptor hard drives in RAID 0, 2x Seagate 7200.7 200Gb hard drives in RAID 1, and a Terratec DMX6Fire LT sound card.

My old PC looked much better though (see below), it was in a nice aluminium case, but because it was a smallish case it was so cramped and untidy inside it was untrue (4 hard drives means a lot of wiring, even when they're all S-ATA :()

It's not so much a question of materials as it is one of style ;)

I'm not TOTALLY anti-Apple - I keep an open mind (their iBooks seem pretty damn good VFM for example). In fact, my next "pc" may well BE a Mac :)

Now now Paul! That's not very gentlemanly :D

This is what an Aluminium case ought to look like:
