    you see!

    No substance.

She wouldn't last five minutes - it's all about build quality and IME you don't get that with cheap Far Eastern Imports no matter how much they them dress up:mad:

I think it looks worse. Sound quality aside, it never ceases to amaze me how pug ugly some high end kit is.

Egads!! Gold, black, silver with blue leds and green lights and at least 4 different typefaces - Jesus - did these people go to the Carlos Fandango School of Design (dept of kitsch) or what? They've been taking lessons off Ear and MF to see just how hopelessly naff they can get it to look I reckon.

Some of us go to great lengths to design speakers that are as compact as possible (well anyone can design good speakers if size isn't an issue ;) ) and then the rest of the equipment dwarfs the speakers anyway.

Small is beautiful (that's equipment, speakers and designers). :D

    Merlin ... I think you're wrong.
It has nothing to do with build quality. A lot of so called "high end" stuff is built like battleships .... purely for marketing reasons, nothing to do with sound.
Far Eastern stuff ... even the cheapest, is astoundingly good.
    Are you an audio snob?

You don't believe the old saying then.

    Anyway, I said:
    I never mentioned designers' equipment.

    YES!

there is no such thing as "overbuilt". Casio make some watches that perform well but that doesn't stop me wanting a Frank Muller or Patek.

Gild the lily, flaunt it, impress your non audiophile friends. Ashamed of your hifi? No need to be, just spend more. I can't beleive you cheapskates taking advantage of impoverished workforces. Have you no consience or just no money?

I must be an Audio Snob too, I will take European or American kit over anything from the Far East, for me they worry too much with specs and too little with pleasure, emotion, whatever makes me tick... :MILD:

    Sheep stuff not included...
