Which power amp?

    Agreed, if you like ATC, it is the moist wife pleasing way forward and actives are nice. There are of course other speakers that may be more wife pleasing as well - Spendor do some nice (passive) units if you want a total overhaul. if you want to keep the speakers then I changed from a Nuvista M3 to a Quad 909 and am very impressed - you do not necessarily have to spend lots of money - and the Quad is small. The ATC amp is also nice but a bit clinical - great if you like that kind of thing.

    Thanks all for the comments and thanks John for the listening offer. I now have a decent audition list and need to start calling a few dealers. I wish I'd gone down the active route with the ATCs, but can't be helped. I'd rather not sell my ATCs as I think I'll take quite a financial hit.

    Ted you should not do too badly with the sale price of the ATCs - have a word with someone like Cornflake and see what they will do in part ex. You could always post a for sale note on the net and see if you can get a good price - if you can great, and if not, keep them.
