Why Pirates?? Is that as it's so razor sharp (digital enhancement I reckon???) anyway - I was gobsmacked at how that looks on my Pioneer 656/housemate's (goldfish bowl) Mitsubishi widescreen - Keira Knightleigh - phwoar - and she's single according to Zoo Weekly :)

Not much can be done for a domestic tv - short of setting the brightness/colour/contrast/sharpness correctly as was mentioned earlier...
If you want to see tv pictures as they would be seen by a broadcaster the only way is to buy a broadcast standard monitor! I have seen them at only £100 each from specialist pro-video 2nd hand dealers - check the back of Broadcast or Sight and Sound for ads, though that would only be for an older Barco 4:3. Only problem is they have no tuner - in which case pick up a pro (probably ex BBC) tuner from one of the old transmission suites - and they have no provision for sound (boohoo - that's what your hifi's for!)..
Only other prob is WAF... They weigh much more than a domestic, and are about 3' deep! Still, setting them up is a doddle with (usually) a range of built in test signals - and there's none of the ubiquitous silver plastic, just good old fashioned metal plate!

Pirates is plagued with too much artificial sharpness. It ruins what would have been a reference transfer. It's just no good for acurately judging the sharpness setting of your TV.

And yes, Keira Knightly is a babe :D

Ferrites on both ends of the TV's power lead and a Silencer from RA on the next outlet did improve the image of my Loewe TV... :MILD:
