Not sure if I've ever heard "She's So High". Certainly don't rememebr it from the time though, which could explain how I got my facts wrong.Originally posted by SCIDB
Hi HenryT & Dom,
The Blur debut single was 'She's so High' from late 1990. This was a hit single, top 50. There's no other way was the 2nd single and a top 10 hit.
Blur were very much a pop band at the time. I remember seeing them in 1991 & the gig was fun of kids. They were marketed was the Baggy/Madchester groups of the time. This style was very much pushed at the kids. They were also classed as indie due to having guitars. So they were aimed at more than one market. But they were never on an indie label & they had the weight of EMI behind them.

The definition of what "indie" music is is very interesting. I've read and taken note of what was said in the "What Is Indie" thread elsewhere in this section. I guess indie to me generally conjures up images of the guitair based pop/rock sound that was mainly coming of out or influenced by bands from Manchester in the early to mid 90's. Having seen and been reminded of the term "Brit pop" in another thread, maybe this is the term I should be using instead?
