Oxygene and Equinoxe by Jarre are both excellent albums - wayyy ahead of their time.

But trailing in the wake of Kraftwerk, who got there first and I reckon did it better ;-)

Telstar by the Shadows

Are you sure Telstar was the Shadows ?

Or the Spotnicks (a swedish group) maybe ?

Edit: I just checked, they both played it, and it seems it was initially by The Tornados.

Cheers

Well, they're contemporaneous, the difference being that TD made a couple of OK albums, whereas Kraftwerk made half a dozen stone-cold classics.

The version you are thinking of is almost definitely the Tornadoes - play it in your head - its an organ of some sort not a twangy guitar (though wouldn't be surprised if the Shads covered it).

If talking the Shadows it has to be Apache.

PS. Apparently Telstar by the Tornadoes is Margaret Thatcher's ( :JOEL: ) favourite tune - bizarre and useless information I know.

hymn to freedom , oscar peterson , love it.

or anything by zegue zegue sputnik.

Pali Gap by Jimi Hendrix is sublime, like some segment from a song that drifts on forever.

Oi. First Rush, now Tangerine Dream. That's fighting talk.

One of my favourite instrumentals is the Shadow's wonderland but I don't know that many instrumentals. Tubuler Bells bores me.

AT that would be "Wonderfull Land" not wonderland, that's where alice went.

You like the smiths and you've the cheek to say TB is boring, theres nae hope fur ye laddie.

RG :D that would be the world's best band. Who happen to hail from Toronto.

There's no hope for Ian, if it has a regular rythm and melody, then he's sure not to like it, 'snot music as far as he's concerned.

Moby Dick
Freebird
The Great Gig In The Sky 9well,its near enough)
