Especialy on my engine everything is so easy to get to though the oil filter is hidden underneath. I have just bought a Michelin foot pump from 'AllFrauds because my dads was useless.

The tappets are sounding a bit quieter now its had an oil change.

Going to drive a fit further in it tomorrow.

Take 'em out and squirt some wd40 on them? I was a bit concerned about this when I bought a Ka having read something about this on the web, and became even more worried when I saw the big pile of rust flakes collected around the top of each plug. Still, blew away all the crap and then removed the plugs ok, lubricated the thread and stuck them back in.

The car is running well, it did seem to jump out of 4th once but not sure if it was me or it did jump out :(. There are few jobs that need doing but I have decided to not bother, just treat the car as a banger then decide in May if its worth keeping or sell for spares. I reckon even without an MOT I could get £250 for it but if I keep spending money on these little things it will just add up, and that savings could be used to get a better car.

There are also some good sensors on my car which are not too good on my dads so I could do a bit of part swapping before I got rid of it.

    You've obviously never had a Fiat Bravo / Brava / Punto ;)

I never knew leads were consumable until the local Fiat dealership buggered up a set when servicing my mum's Punto and then charged her for their mistake. When challenged they basically said, "Oh well they always do that". :grrr:

Drove a 57 plate one as a hire car once. A whole 26 miles and I drove very fast on the way back so I could give the damn thing back.

But no, I'd never spend my own money on one... or anything french (possible exception of a venturi atlantique).

    For me, if it ain't German or Swedish with a turbo and/or 5 cylinders+, I ain't interested :D

Then may I be the first, sir, to commend to you a 'Baguette'. Quite delicious taken for lunch with a savoury filling.

Do you know what AT, you think far to much about cars!

Just drive the damn thing, if at some point you are pressing the go faster peddle and nothing is happening, get someone to look at it

hehe :) I probably have OCD, always worried about something. Worrying about a bit of smoke I saw in my rear view mirror now :( It was probably just condensation as I had only been driving it for a mile but you know me.

Christ just drive it man. When my seat engine got out and walked I secured a car the next day, mentioned it at work, someone said they were selling, I looked saw that it was in one piece and paid him the next day.

If I was OCDing over a spot of rust on the bottom, or a squeeky break peddle, I guess I would be walking the 16 miles to work.

Hehe well I plan to do a good 20 mile run it out tomorrow (this is a quarter of the entire milleage this car has done this year!!!!).

On a positive note I am actually quite enjoying driving although not exceeded the speed of 29.65mph yet! It dosn't help that I have been very quiet work wise this week after a mad busy two weeks so I do start worrying about things. I suppose worrying about a £350 car is a major distraction from worrying about a £260k house but that is another matter.

I know its stupid and ilogical :) It goes well, stops well, corners well, handles the bumps well. I might ask Top Gear if they want to lend my car to see if the stig can get it round the track in 1 minute 50 seocnds, with a massive 59bhp on tap that should be err interesting viewing!

Just checked the oil level on the dipstick and its about 50mm above maximum :( I am not sure if this in the save limits or not. Checked all the breather pipes, checked coolant level and again no loss.
