    Julian do manufacturers not veneer both insde and outside anyway as this helps prevent warping due to different expansion charecterstics, besides veneer is expensive and messy to apply, I wonder how much it would be to get speakers moulded in corian.? Or even Corian just for front baffle. MMMMM

    Ju, I honestly would take it someplace and get the cabinets painted.. you dont want it to look crap..I dont even think it will be that dear..

    NB My advice would be to paint the cabinet when built up, but without the drivers or crossovers in.

    IMO Steve's advice regarding painting/varnishing is bang on. Preparation is key..

    If you wanted to go this route you could take the completed cabinets (without drivers) to a car spraying workshop and get a quote from them. I did that with early piano-lacquered speakers.

    I paid £50 per pair of System IVs (back in 1990), although it would have gone up if I'd continued with the same guys. Of course, they had a 'piano-lacquered' finish, whereas Julian is talking of ordinary spray.
