That sounds far to sensible Dom, what Parrants actually walking thier bratts to school, unheard of. OH no we're too much of a fat, lazy, US lead Nation, that'll never work.

How long before we see horses and carts back on the road :) Hay don't need a licence for them, cool, don't have a big enough garden to keep one though, d'oh.

Who pays for the information? Dom works for the government and the prime customers for his (generally inaccurate) information are the military. Hmm.

Not really a very sensible approach to life then. Apocalypse sometime between tomorrow and after I'm dead.

you are dead right my friend they should ----ing ban 4by 4's NOW so fuel can last us a few more decades untill we find an alternative.
by the way sweden is one of the greenest countries on earth and we are NOT a car dependend society here(very few 4 by 4's aswell) as we have a fantastic public transport system, and it less than half the price of england, my wife pays £60 for a months travel. and her journey to work is 1 hour.
and by 2011 the swedish government want ALL cars runnig on ethanol.
and by the way most of the buses run on vegatable oil, and the air is so clean here aswell

It's Madness (& a good example of how the media can completely screw up the country in no time at all)! There's no short, medium or long term petrol shortage in the UK. In the Very LONG term of course, there will be, but that is decades away. In the VERY short term, there will be, 'cos everyone's seeing/reading the news & rushing off to filll up... in a few days everyone will be wondering what it was all about (unless the supposed distribution network 'blockades' get serious...). Like any industry, if demand suddenly doubles overnight, the supply can't keep up (short term). Short term price increases are just a reflection of that.

What would happen if tomorrow the Sun announced that there would be a bread shortage next week...the shelves of every supermarket in the country would be empty in hours......actual bread consumption (i.e how much gets eaten) probably wouldn't change though....

Yes you are right here, just because the news has been reporting a fuel shortage this has started a mass panic, I think there needs to more control over the media in how they conduct themselves, forcing a near riot like this is really bad behavour and they should be brought to book on this.

As for bread shortage, hey this could happen, we are selling off all our farm land and building on it, so we are getting more and more dependant on imports, what if the imports stopped for some reason, we'd be screwed.

Which immigrants would those be then? Just the non-white ones perhaps? :inferno: The vast majority of blacks and asians in the UK were either born here and/or have a British passport which makes the UK their home.

Are you aware of the irony of your ridiculous claim, you yourself being an immigrant in the country you live in? Perhaps Sweden should "send you home" - how would you like that?

    Michael.

and immigrants are ok in small amounts, but it's a ----ing epidemic in the uk. go on any building site now and you will find mostly bosnians and poles.
you are a small island and the country and economy can't take whats happening there
