Wilco, A Ghost Is Born. I don't often believe reviews, but this gets a huge puffing in the Wire this month, so I thought I'd give it a punt. Don't know why I bothered, apart from the first track and a quite entertaining krautrock track (the riff is pure Neu!, completely ripped off, and then detourned by throwing some rock guitar on top), it's really quite dull. -- Ian
The Litmus Test - Cut Chemist. Spotted in my local Fopp and purchased straight away. An excellent 30 minute turntabilisim demonstration mixing some of his classic samples/tracks and other material.
The Moldy Peaches - The Moldy Peaches This little peach will really stretch the limits of your hifi system. I like it a lot.
On vinyl to test out the new DIY phono stage. J.S. Bach Toccata & Fugue in C Minor, D Minor, F Major and G Minor - Fernando Germani
Brother Jack McDuff, The Honeydripper. To follow, Big John Patton, Let 'Em Roll. An evening of funky organ grinding, oo-er missus. -- Ian

I was considering this, not just because of Wire, but one of my customers keeps raving about it, as does my local indie... You've put me right off and I'm grateful. Now, when is the latest Sunn0))) vinyl out?
To Rococo Rot, Hotel Morgen. Not as good as their earlier records, sadly. Too ambient for its own good. -- Ian
Chicago - 16 Chicago - 17 Chicago - 18 Chicago - 19 Peter Cetera - Solitude/Solitaire Peter Cetera - One More Story
The Nightingales, Pigs on Purpose. Birmingham's answer to The Fall, ace group, now largely forgotten, singer Robert Lloyd went on to become first a milkman, then a racing tipster. -- Ian
The Definitive Collection - Lee Dorsey, wonderful groovy and funky R&B. A Break From The Norm - Various Artists, a collection of the original tracks that Fatboy Slim sampled for some of his more famous tracks. Some excellent funk/soul/hip-hop tracks.
Currently spinning 'Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness' by Smashing Pumpkins. Its been a favorite for many many years. Anyone who only has a pumpkins greatest hits album really should explore the back catalogue (starting with mellon collie and avoiding only machina!) Ive also been trying to get into the 'Audioslave' album Ive had for a few months. Sorry, but IMHO its pants. Let down by poor songs and an obviousness about every chord progression. 5 quid plus p&p if you want my copy! The Meters 'the very best of' reccomended by SCIDB. You cant get much more funky, much more sampled, or much more classic than this. Let down by a few average tracks, but overall something Im glad Ive got in my collection with some classic stuff.
