American III: Solitary Man

Contains "The Mercy Seat", that is. A top choice. A good Tom Petty cover and the masterpiece "I See a Darkness".

Its late though now, so Little Death Orchestra a £1 buy.

Clark Terry, In Orbit. The perfect record for all fans of really swinging fluegelhorn. Thelonious Monk's on it too, and Philly Jo Jones, so it rocks. Excellent.

Roy Brooks, The Free Slave. Much underrated drummer's 1970 live recording, with a fantastic band: Woody Shaw on trumpet, George Coleman on tenor, Cecil McBee on bass. The title track is fabulous, a blues with some really funky bass playing from McBee. Good stuff.

Mingus Ah Um - downloaded from SoulSeek - so sue me!

Rich - (no record player - and rest of system is down pending carpet upgrade!)

The Cure "Best of" and "kiss me kiss me kiss me"

Radiohead "Amnesiac"

Nick Drake "A Treasury"

Efterklang ââ'¬â€œ Tripper
Danish weirdish electronica with added vocals and 'proper' instruments which creates a lovely contrast and gives the whole thing an organic feel. Reminds me somewhat of Mum, but better than their last album which I never really took to.

just picked up Echobelly's Lustra off eBay for next to nothing, as I really liked their first two albums at the time. Aaagh! This has to be the worst recorded / engineered item in my collection. So bad that at first I suspected a problem in my system and had to check it on the spare rig. There's an awful thin, metallic sheen over it - as if the cymbals were placed between the mike and everything else. Won't be listening to that again. The producer should be shot.

Umar Bin Hassan - ******* are scared of revolution (very witty - with the full Bill Laswell production and Knitting Factory regulars..)

Urban Dance Squad - Perspectives (you'd never think the Dutch could be so rockin' and funky!)

Weather Report - Heavy Weather (cd re-master, don't know if it's just me but it seems awefully thin compared to the vinyl)

Bootsy Collins - Play with Bootsy (especially tr.7 with Bobby Womack.. 3 mins in it just turns into THE FUNK..)

Godspeed You Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven

Sublime. Seems to have been going for hours but I'm still only on track 2.

The Cult- Pure Cult Vinyl Box set. Listened to it on Saturady for the first time in ages, again on Sunday then played She sells sanctuary and (here comes the) Rain 12" singles just for good measure. I think 1985/6 were my fave years though. Not too sure which is my all time favorite rock track now Sanctuary or Rain, Hmmm its a tough one.......
