imports from the east

Don't know if its the late hour, the whiskey or whatever else, but the following quote from the ShengYa site almost makes me want to buy one of their AV amplifiers...

£ÂªStrong fist upon
¡¡¡¡ Suddenly, with no any evidence, ShengYa recommends the heavyweight SV-288 multi-decoding AV amplifier.

Love it!

Talking of whisky, from the same source:

'Champagne color clocks all body and all controlling pins layout are designed symmetrically with a touch of HI-END "Golden throat" from Japan.'

some of these english chinese sites are terrible, really slow, and you should read the english....

applicable to the hifi box of 86db...

translation, suitable for speakers of 86db or more :D

and that's just one, some are incomprehensible.

I have 2 chinese valve amps mingda and yarland, build of one is peerless, best I have seen, other is still excellent, both sound fantastic, western makers and the japs should be VERY worried indeed.

Thanks data, I'll take that as a vote in the positive. Have you been able to compare to similar configuration amps. from more well known manufacturers?
Thanks, Stuart.

not really, I don't keep multiple bits around if I can help it.
they are better than your marantz type by a good way.

One thing I am finding, and I saw this in a review, hifichoice some yrs back describing most transistor amps, and there was a valve amp there.

He wrote on blind testing it sounded easier to listen to, more fullsome bass, different quality, less tiring, stereo slightly diffuse. absolute spot on imo. for the valve sound.

check this page out for the interenal pics of the chinese stuff, some are seriously good

and check the writing on this one out for some REALLY weird english
