I've heard of both Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, and can't stand either of them - though with Bob that's mainly down to his voice...
And as for Old Bluntie - make up your own rhyme.
    Average sheep fodder imho..

James Blunt = coldplay angst (sic) mixed with dog sick and McFly producers.

oh dear, that doesn't bode very well. The current on is pretty awfull, unimaginative annoying rubbish.

How about Mark laneghan and Mark Mulcahy? I rather like them.

Im absolutely fed up of hearing headlines like "The Dylan of our generation"

Mark Laneghan is great. I reckon if anyone is Dylan... its Conner Oberhim (sp?) who is Bright Eyes and does the Desaparicidos stuff. I didn't get on with the earlier bright eyes stuff but the last two are great but the decaparicidos record is my fav, lots of anti corporate stuff etc. Hes a genius. Very little like James Blunt though.

He's good enough at what he does... but it is a little on the bland side. I've heard far too much of it in the pub lately. Jack Johnson is OK at what he does, he works with G Love & Special Sauce sometimes, and they're always worth checking out, especially live. Damien Rice, don't like the album, but the track Lonely Soldier, which he did with Christy Moore was pretty good.

Definitely one for the women though is Mr Blunt.

My brother really needs to get his album recorded. Of course I'm biased, but he pisses on 90%+ of this bollox

    PODCAST :)

As for James Blunt - well, yep, blunt by name and blunt (as in dull!) by musicality. "You're puke-iful" is what that insipid whingey ***** rubbish should be called - loathsome.

And no, as you can see, I'm very definitely NOT a fan! I think he spells his second name with a silent "c", as in, *****.

I've got nowt against her, or Bob..
It's just that I tend to like music for rhythm first and feel first, melody next and lastly lyrical content.
I can see why folk like Joni, but she ain't no Bootsy Collins or Lemmy!

Podcasting is basically sticking your work as MP3s on a website, and then people downloading them (or at least, that's what I *think* it means?) - it could be a good way of him getting some of his tunes heard to guage the interest :)

My wife and I just don't get this whole James Blunt thing. We thought it was just us getting old but at a recent family get together not one person could understand what the deal is either.

Weak pop drivel trying to appear inteligent but in our minds comes across as a pure knee-jerk reaction to all the electronica in the charts.

Pure pop drivel has made him a millionaire though,so thankfully for him his fans aren't HIFI geeks.

He should be going into the studio in November. Keeps getting put back but looks pretty definite now. He gets people asking if he's got anything recorded after MOst gigs so it'll be good to have something done.
He's doing a few deMOs soon to pass on to friends/musicians he wants on there. I think it'll probably be about 50/50 split of stuff done solo (acoustic and vocal), and stuff with various other people too.
I'll try and upload some of the demo's when they're done.

Like I said, I'm obviously biased. But I'm also passionate about music. And I truly believe he's got something special.

'Pop' gets wielded around foums like its an insult, yet its short for 'popular'! Its as if the only music anyone can admit to liking publicly on the web is an obscure Bavarian composer who played a harp with his penis and a trumpet out of his arse,or some equally obscure busker who agreed to apear live in your lounge.

Pop doesn't have to bad music.
