James Blunt

'Pop' gets wielded around foums like its an insult, yet its short for 'popular'! Its as if the only music anyone can admit to liking publicly on the web is an obscure Bavarian composer who played a harp with his penis and a trumpet out of his arse,or some equally obscure busker who agreed to apear live in your lounge.

Pop doesn't have to bad music.

HAHAHAHA! Nice sense of humour. Remember though, just because it's 'popular' does not mean it's creative, comes form a talented source, or offers something new.

Pop in this sense is purely a word with it's root centered around statistics, not on musical content!

Plus,...(while I have my soapbox out :p ) there are other countless musicians out there who are far more talented than the likes of Mr. Blunt who never seem to see the light of day on the big stage (although admitedly that's what some of them want anyway).

If you enjoy Blunt's material then great, we are all different at the end of the day.

Indeed we are,but being popular doesn't mean crap, the two aren't always mutually exclusive.

99 times out of 100 it usually does.

Popular is another word for commercial, ie it has to appeal to the most people at any one time. To put this into perspective the mass appeal is aimed at those whom spend the most money on music.
This means that the musical demographic required to achieve No1 (the most sales and the most public visibility) is squarely aimed at young grrls - no disrespect intended but croakey whining talentless twats just dont appeal to me. James Blunt is almost as bad as Robbie Williams - dont get me started with him!!!!
