LACK Rack mk II

That LACK rack looks really great pixie... beautiful collection of Quad there too. How about matching wall shelf next? ;)

That Lack rack does indeed look great...:)
if it wasn't as (way to) deep as it is...

Currently I'm thinking of building me a rack from the base- en top-plate of 2 Corras units.
The Corras has the ideal dimensions imho. (not too deep)
I thought it might be possible to stick some spacers (wood?) in between the boards, on the corners.

Regards,
Alco

I couldnt be arsed with all the chopping of legs and adding spikes so I give you ...

I've no intention of showing mine........it doesn't look anywhere near as neat as those....:(

.....it changes every five mins any way....:D

edit....the RACK is fine..one of petes, the isolation supports are little improvised though!

Holy thread revival :D

great minds think alike - bought expanding foam and glue last night.

About to try this out, but have a few questions.

1.) To fill the legs what ration of glue / expanding foam are you using, and what products do you use ?

2.) Will something like unibond 'No more big gaps' be sufficient as i think it contains glue in it ?

3.) One more thing, found those monacor spikes but they have 'hammer-in' inserts, but surely doing this will cause the expanding foam to crack and or shatter because it's presumably brittle when hard ? Might be possible to hold the inserts in whilst the foam hardens, but il probably be trying to control its overflow going everywhere ?

cheers

The revival of this thread has got me thinking. I need a wall shelf to support my turntable and get a matching rack for the rest of my kit.

Now how about sorting a rack like Pixie's and using a lack table top with suitable supports for the turntable. Any thoughts on the viability of this would be appreciated.

it's possible but a target wall shelf was much easier. you'd still need the iron work underneath anyway, especially if you have a substantial deck.

Shame that LACK tables ain't what they used to be :(

They are no longer clad in real wood veneer but more importantly they now have hollow cardboard legs instead of the solid chipboard ones they used to have so mounting the spikes is a problem.

Shame, will bear that in mind... Gonna buy a couple anyway as I have a need for a few little tables around the place. Will have a nose when I get them and see whats what and share any findings here.

just fill the legs up with polyeurathane foam and a small block to fix the spikes too.

I also filled the table top with foam ...its now very stiff and light

I think it would look better without the paper weight on top of your amp.
