The RS4 is nice tool also, I managed a respecable 408@ wheels, grips superb & just does what it says on the tin no fuss, might not set the world on fire I agree, but it's a pleasingly good motor :)

The Audi RS concept is cool. The RS6 is outstanding - an engine design that had to wait 10 years for a chassis to come along that could cope with it; 911 Turbo torque for 5 people to share; cornering ability that apparently frightened the Audi test engineers and a family motor to boot.

I'm waiting for the first used models to appear though.

Only has a quick spin in a stock 6, more room slightly better cabin, nicer poise on the road also, but slower than one I use, and slightly more expensive also.
No subistude for 911 turbo 4 though greg, circa 95/96, brakes on this car are quite good :D

My wife is German and she comes from an 'Audi family'. From the stories I've heard it takes a lot to frighten the Audi test engineers.

The family lives on the Westerwalt between Koln and Frankfurt. Apparently, if you do the speed-restricted section of the A3 autobahn at over 200 kph, the speed cameras can't get you.

... and the thread-relevant snake oil is ...?

I gotsta agree the 911 Turbo is still sufficiently rare to represent an aspiration. The Carrera is a lovely car but ubiquitous.

My blessing but problem for a two seater = our four children. I guess a 911 Turbo with a trailer?

The new M5 has a few tricks up its sleeve though. V10 500 bhp 4.8 0-62 and actually can corner unlike most Merc AMG.

My two children are still very young so they should squeeze into the back of my Aston DB9 without problems.

    - too 'Pipe and Slippers', Tone?

if you notice,I cunningly didn't mention the behemoth the RS4,or even S4:)

The S3 is an over priced lardy posers car,it may be well balanced, but its still dull, there is more feel in a tractor than that car,in fact, its what Audi suffers from most imo, woefully inadequate steering and grotesque understeer

the RS4 is a beast though admittedly. But the S3 is a nonsensical car in the same way a 5k set of cables is,you can more fun from an Mx5 for half the price of an S3

the best thing about the S3 is its not the V6 TT,quite possibly the most pointless car on the planet, the auto equivalent of 4k Nordost interconnects on an Aiwa system.

also, the new Mx5 is a bit sneaky..............they have raised the power to 500bhp but all they have done is raise the rev range to get it,so the new car will be no faster than the old one, very clever.Bloody great car all the same...................

and Mr Wadia..........to get 408 at the wheels you would have to have the car tuned to at least 500bhp due to transmission losses which of course are greater for a 4wd..........:) oh and the 911 Turbo 4 is for girls..............get a proper rwd................:MILD:

btw,the best kept secret is the Octavia vRS..............it has the TT 1.8T engine and a simple remap will take it to 220bhp,even with a safe map, a great Q car,and to bring the post back in line.................this car is to auto what cheap cables is to audio:cool: :MILD:

    Saab,

Drie train losses on a cossie are between 65-85bhp on a 224 version usually around 148@wheels mark.
The S4 is 488@the flywheel, on my old rollers and a stock unit produces about 365, instead of the claimed 377 bhp.
Bit more than remapp I'm afraid ;)
I've done a few shoot out for the helmet squads, max muppet, fast ford (is there such a thing really?)
Mini world, even had a guy with a genuine 168 from a 5 porter :D
We even used to usde the compressor housing and impelar blades, from an 9000 turbo for some of the projects, interesting watching those turbo bearings being balanced at 100,000 RPM.
Even had an old hot box with 340@ wheels, M3 owners were my fave sport, especialy the London Knob jockets & braces squad :) although once I had to use the gas, it was almost quick.
shame he couldn't drive though :D
Just for the record, the last rear wheel drive car I owned was 762@ wheels, only weighed 912KG too, pretty well much as quick as the turbo quack, just stopped a bit better :D
That was a rot box copy too.
we did win a fair few races with it though

    You weren't far wrong with a 147 :D we first put a v6 24 in a 145 about 6 years ago, a mere 302bhp, but fun so the GTA is a touch basic :D
No a Stratos rep, with our 3.7 litre converstion on the 164 GCL Unit, with twin tubros (modest 25 psi boost too), pushed out over 800 lbs of torque, if you could keep it in a straight line.
MBe fully prog FI system, arrow rods, en40B2 crank, squeeze cast pistons, trick liners, relieved block, the exhaust should have being in the tate  sort of F1 stylee clutch ceramic dry plate thingy, reinforced block, all core plugs bolted down, wills rings on the liners, too much to mention stuff, it did stay together for a couple of seasons, we use to test it on the Airport runway were the business was, after 8pm, cuz the planes stopped then, however we used to run out of runway, before we could max her out :(
Nowadays just a little old citroen for me, I get to borrow the good ladys old boys cars from time to time though :MILD:

and me,I have had to calm down also,but...............I have discovered the joys of the unbiquitous VAG 1.8T.A soleless engine for sure, but easily mapped to 220,so........................the Octavia 4x4 Estate and a sneeky visit to a tuner is wife and warranty proof:)

the joys of turbos and modern injection systems :)

ps no the M3 guy wasn't on foot, but he was on a cool down lap:D (I don't tell anyone that though:) )

pps lol at "modest 25 psi boost":D

pps don't confuse for a techy,i have exhausted the limit of my knowledge in this thread already, but i do know what 800lb of torque is,a beast:D
