Racks

You one rack mentioned is also extremely good a music removal. l the other I believe stands alone in the hifi world as the most talked about one trick pony in existance.
Oh and a huge dose of daja' Vu

If you've reached this conclusion without trying any, then it's good for you. Spend your money elsewhere.

I'm more than happy to be proved wrong. however I do not have the time or inclination to justify asking a salesman to put the same kit on more than one rack so I can choose between them.

I haven't mentioned any particular rack, have I?

No.

Fair enough, it's your call.

I'm sure that most hifi shops have a straight-jacket reserved for those that ask.

In fairness I can sort of see the point for microphonic components. by that I mean TTs and valve amps. however the difference must be so negligable that the time spent auditioning racks can surely be put to better use. like auditioning mains cables :D

Hi-fi shops which sell hi-fi supports are hardly going to do that, now, are they?

You overlook other sources of distortion. Cable connections, for instance.

Which ones? You talk in riddles...

Me? I use an IKEA PS with thick slabs of beech plywood on top of it and in the cupboard on which the equipment sits. Works fine for me!

you will be ushered into a different dem room. with soft walls. if not physically, then mentally by hifi salesman. who will then attempt to sell you snake-oil. ;)

I'm not overlooking other sources of distortion, they're not relevant here. but since you mention it, a lorry going past outside your window could equally be classed as distortion.

still the lorry. or some other infernal combustion engined vehicle.

if you rub the snake oil on the connectors they become impervious to vibrations ;)

Traffic noise isn't a problem, and even if it was, why is it relevant, since it is outwith anyone's control?

What is it with you? Why bother trying to persuade me that vibration is not an issue?

because it's more likely to be audible than these "vibrations" you are on about.

that said, you've managed to misdirect the thread away from racks. which don't make much difference to the sound.

what is what with me?

No I haven't. You brought up lorries, for some reason. You are a rack sceptic, so what? You've said it. There's no need to keep repeating it, really.
