My apologies I flunked on the pinging. I repeated the operation and get my four identical lines again ...

That means that they are communicating, the SB is on the network and there must be something blocking the slimserver ports, my guess would be either the netgear or a hidden firewall in the AV package

Accessed the router interface and saw nothing about a firewall.

Say, I don't want to keep you up all night. Let's sleep on it, tomorrow is another day OK?

No problem, I'm happy to keep trying if not, I'll be up for an hour or two yet.

You could also try leaving a post on http://forums.slimdevices.com , some of the American members may reply overnight with further suggestions

I searched their forum, seems like many newbies have problems connecting at first. Didn't want to ask the same questions again. But will do.

Thanks a lot for your time and patience. It's past one here, need to hit the sack, got a biking outing tomorrow morning ... Will call for help if still stuck.

Well, it works. Don't ask me. I was playing with the settings and at one stage got a prompt to upgrade the firmware (got 28 now). I okayed it and after the SB restarted it showed on Slimserver.

Maybe something to do with the fact that I restarted the PC this morning. And the firewall is in which is fine.

Andrew, thanks again for your help.

If I'm lucky I'll go wifi by the end of next week, let's hope it will be plug and play :)

Like owner, like computer I guess.

I tried re-applying the firewall in my AV package. And sure enough I lost Slimserver. Hard to understand as last night I had it off. So it's off for good now.

I love this SB3. Now back to ripping ...
