So, REL Quake. Any good at all? :D

A good question Ian. IMHO, Rel subs are vastly overrated and suffer from horrendous levels of distortion that makes them very hard to integrate properly.

Except in the air near the portugese coast and of course they have to be spaced properly and you need rattan furniture and stuff:) then apparently it is better than hifi.

does yoga make you fart?

Some of those positions do compress my bowels dangerously...

As for the disturbing tentatives of the Tug and company, I am above them, anyone interested to hear good music with subwoofers is welcome in my humble house... :moony:

hey Antonio don't rope me in with the Tug, I was just pulling your leg. I'm a pure 2 ch stereo man thru and thru and couldn't really comment on AV sysytems or sub sat systems either.

But if I wasn't too fussed about quality, for instance, if I had an AV system rather than a hifi, they'd be good enough would you say?

It is becoming clear Antonio that your understanding of the English language, whilst not bad, is as incomplete as your grasp of hifi ;)

You are forguiven then, but you do have a sub sat system... ;)

What happened, ZG is not e-mailing me when there are new posts...

No Antonio you are wrong yet again matey, I have a 2 box 3way, speakers run from same xover, cannot be run sperately like what yours can, If you bi wire them they sound awful (then start to sound like the lack of integration you get when you run AV subs or sub sats in stereo).

No arguments this time, you are definately wrong(but then you're used to being wrong :))

Copied from the Art loudspeakers website:

We have developed a truly unique mini monitor which we believe sets new standards for this genre of speaker. The unique modular concept however allows the user to add Bass units at a later date if required.

Antonio I know you are at the windup, but just to set the record straight.

The bass units have a seperate crossover, and slave wires join the 2 units together, they then run as 3 way speakers, you cannot use these with other speakers as you can with subs, it's a design thing, bass units is not the same as subs, so repeat after me they are 2 box 3 way speakers. The bass units sell for £4k a pair on their own and are more than a speker in a box, there is some quite nifty wiring going on inside. If you look at all the art models, they are all modular skibo's expression's and Impressions, all built using more than one box, a bit like parsifal speakers. they do have a new range in conventional boxes of similar size to prac studios.

What a shame that the likes of Rel have made the word "sub" such a bad word.

Consequently the word itself conjures up images of distortion and movie sound effects.

I think I prefer the term bass augmentation module (or BAM) for units such as the ART's, Verity and my JBL's. It possibly helps to set them apart from the AV dross.

Dont worry that I am not going to say that my speakers are better than yours, at least until I hear them... ;)

But, thats just what I have, a pair of mini monitors + a pair of bass modules, I have an external digital active xover, theoretically it is better than a passive xover like yours, particularly for bass, but then your implementation could be better...

If you think about it for a while you will see there is no reason for my set not integrating properly, particularly at such low freq as 60hz, of course you may not like the sound, wich I doubt, as I may not like yours, wich I also doubt...

Fecking hell, I have been browsing this thread at work today up to page 22, just thought I would check how many pages there are in it.

I have more of a life than this, but tell me did we conclude anything at all?
