Room and speaker interaction type thread.

Hi Avanzato,

"have you tried placing the tubes close together?"

They are palced in the room where they would fit, where the audio engineer thought they would work and whyere they might not be too visible!

In summary 3 batches of tubes up against the wall together.

Ian, tell us a bit more about these tubes. Are they ported on the sides or open at the ends? How long are they? What do they have inside? Is there any stuffing? What are they made of? Would some 10 cm cardboard tube from a carpet shop do the trick?

Hi Chris,

Given my poor estimate of the diameter do you want to trust the next lot of information???

They are roughly 1 - 1.3m tall. Sealed at one end with a rubber like plate. This plate is thick enough to be moved up and down the tube to achieve the resonant pipe length required. The tube is empty. It is fairly rigid and for domestic reasons can be covered in carpet etc.

Cardboard tube from a carpet shop may well be exactly what I have and would be a good thing to try.

Best regards,

Ian

Sorry, operator error on my part. The tubes are in fact 10cm in diameter, I measured them last night!

Ian, you're excused, it's a common male failing to think that something that actually measures 10 cm is 30 cm.
