Size?

Well you know what they say about mobile phone salesmen Mike;

They all stand at the toilets arguing over who has the smallest one :D

32" is ok for all but movies and some sports, I will probably go to 42", or 45" if I get the SIM2...

Shall I cut as much as possible of the standard lead to apply the male IEC...

Just for the record we recently purchased a JVC LT26 26" LCD and looks excellent picture is great, we bought it for much the same reasons as Tony ie get telly off floor and taking up space, the size might not sound big but it has slightly bigger picture than 28" crt and any bigger and it would overpower the wall (we live in a modern house with lowish ceilings, One thing to remember is be carefull if you are installing above a fireplace as they don't like the heat(especially plasma).

I did cut the mains lead of my Loewe Vitros and replaced it with a male IEC, it is so thin that the brace in the plug wouldnt hold it, had to put something in there to fill, I dont have much patience for this stuff, I think it is a bit flimsey...

First I used the original lead of the Bel Canto, a little thicker than average, 1mm section wire, the PIP (picture in picture) much better, before fuzzy, now more detailed and stronger colours than the main picture, useful to watch two quater finnals games at the same time... ;)

Then I used the VDH Mainsstream BS, WOW, the depth and naturalness of the image are umbelievable, easy for the wife to notice, I am amazed, even with the window behind wide open... :MILD:

I had a chap form NEC come in and demo a 32" LCD screen to me. I have to say I was stunned at how good it was. It peed on plasma from a high height (i havent yet seen a plasma I liked). The whites were white and the blacks black. The viewing angle was virtually 178 degrees and it had no ghosting or blur. It truly was a 'I want one' product. Only weighed around 20kg too. Worked great with DVD or PC. Was truly impressed. :D

The horrible 17" things you see in Dixons are not anywhere close.

The guy said they were selling a lot to places that had bought plasmas but they had all burnt out and now needed replacing.

Antonio,

This week I've viewed the 37" Loewe LCD the one with the rotator, I have got to say, its pants really pants and at £5100 a complete rip off.
There are better LCD's than this out there and way cheaper too :)

Shame, it is a good size, still the frame is too large, so the SIM2 retroTV is Nº one so far...

Antonio,

The frame and plinth are great looking and its very slim too, its just the picture is well quite frankly Bad.
I've mounted mine on the wall, I will try and post some pictures next week, Tim's got the camera, and just for Sarge Rock, some picckys of the mono blocks too :)

I wont have a wall to mount mine, it will have to go on top of the acrylic shelf where the center speaker is, well, at least is is much lighter, if it will be a LCD, the DLP weights 50kgs, also it has much less volume than the CRT, wich has an even greater image now, but I really would like a bit more glass...

Does NEC have LCDs a bit larger than that...

This was a year ago. They were talking about making 40" and 50" jobs.

I havent investigated since as I dont have the deep pockets to follow it up. ;)

Edit - Try the NEC LCD4000 40" at around £4000.00. Or the NEC LCD3000 30" at around £2500.00 (I think thats the one I saw). Compared to others of this caliber I dont know how they stack up but I was most impressed. If others are better then thats great! :)

The new power cord on my TV is by far the most value for money upgrade I have done... :MILD:

It is still getting better with run-in, today I was watching the NATO meeting, they where in a quite large room, I could see detail in the next room and even the plants outside the windows of that room, quite far away, incredible, I can also see the individuals on the stadium, instead of a blurr of colour during the matches, amazing...

On a more serious note, WM, the new Sony LCD is sweet, still can't get over the motion artifacts I see on all of them compared to my Plasma

What a surprise, something you own is better then something you dont own...

Mike,

That was the one big concern 'the motion slurring' that seems to effect a lot of them (LCD TV's) I agree, it ranged from Piss poor to wow is that really an LCD?
The Tosh is pretty damn good, but I will say for the first 20 mins on you can see it, the more its been used the better its got, no perfect by a long shot, but damn fine all the same
