Well ...
What's the thinking behind multiple motors on the Raven? I can understand it on a suspended TT but what is the shortcoming that makes their use desirable on a design like this? Is the platter not heavy enough? Does a single motor cause wear to the bearing on one side? Or is the single motor not powerful enough? Keith? Anyone else? That Ortofon arm looks very nice btw.
Burn Jones Super 90 arm made in Carshalton Surrey just outside Croydon. I donated mine to Walrus for their collection of vintage stuff.
FYI, the motor on the TW brings the platter up to speed in a comparable time as a direct drive, so plenty powerful enough, the three motor drive is only an advantage if the speed control of all three motors is perfectly scynhronised ( which it is with the TW ) and finally some advantage may be gained with less 'belt' touching the platter, the new Kuzma uses four motors I believe.
What quarter of a second? I understand Graham is selling the motors and controllers for other turntables Keith - sadly he's not making his battery PSU for the Verdier anymore. Dean, They had a Thales on a Brinkmann balance at Munich - my first reaction was why? It could almost have been a product of Kimura San's fertile imagination. I am disappointed no one has thought to add the Ekos SE. Anyone got a picture of the Alphason sitting on their harddrive?
Ah thanks Markus. Tha Alphason was always the best looking readily available option back in the eighties to my eyes.
Hi, Linn Ekos SE Origin live Silver Mk1 & MkII Hadcock GH 228 export The Cartrdge man Conductor SCIDB
Interesting to see a Hadcock on a P9 – Rob won’t like it! Tony. PS <pedant> The set up is wrong – the bias thread should pull horizontally, not upwards! </pedant>
The RS arm is made by RS Labs, not 47 Labs. The 47 Labs arm is the Tsurube, unfortunately I can't find a good close up of it: -- Ian
