Top Gear and the Ford Mondeo

better to buy a cheap car for a couple of grand and lose just a couple of hundred quid in depreciation over a year.

less time spent payin for your motor means more time for lovin' !

(and riding, and listening to music, and all that other cool stuff in life)

Yeah thats the best thing about my dads car, we paid £1600 for it 3 years ago and we spend about £400 on it a year in maintance including MOTs and servicing. Its done 86,000 miles, the machanic said the engines sound and the car should have plenty of years left in it. I reckon my dad will keep it for another 3 years or so and scrap it when it starts to become unreliable.

Greg you have a good point about the Monedo new, but as they loose so much in value a 12 month one will be a lot cheaper than a BMW. I reckon an ST24 will be worth about £10k-12k if it was second hand, a 12 month old basic 320 would be around £16-£18k.

Yeah an Impreza would be nice you get all the BMW quality without the price as well.

rubbish, the Impreza's interior is low rent in comparison. They are built like tanks, but the BMW is a vastly superior piece of engineering. The Impreza is all about traction, grip and a highly tuned throaty boxer, but not everyone loves awd.For many rwd and an lsd is the nirvana, and sorry,as good as the ST220 is,its still fwd.

And the 9-3 isn't based on the Vectra, although it shares some parts from the Vauxhall bin.The platform is from the Epsilon.

Btw,I've owned a Ford,a tuned Scoob, and an Abbott Racing tuned 9-3,and the car that The Devil has would not be embarassed by any of them. (except in the wet) An ST24 or a 328 Sport? no question

serious question - do you find you get treated with less courtesy on the road because you drive what is generally perceived as a "wanker's car"?
Now that we all know who you are .... and since any car you own will fit that category, do you have this problem?

Your Dad was ripped off. I have a friend who has a VW Beetle, paid £15 for it five years ago, and still going strong.

Lol Yeah but I doubt the Beatle is big enough to be used as a van, or practicle enough to ferry pensioners about. Also stuff like electric windows and power steering is nice.

huh?

what nonsensical drivel are you spouting now?

don't start on me, blub.

the question still stands. I don't drive a car which has a reputation for lack of road courtesy on a par with "white van man".

if you want to call me a wanker, at least have the balls to actually come out and say it. ;)

I was having a little joke with you. Yes, you can find cars which are cheaper than BMWs, but they won't be as good.

You are Marco Pieraccini, and, as such, any further insults are superfluous.

forget fords they are $hite cars i'll think you'll find!

Maybe but they are cheap and can handle the miles is they are not abused. They are perfect if you want to stand out. Also most of the new Ford range tends to be praised by the motoring press.
