PC used to be quite competent in Brand X. But while we're about it how about Pip Pyle & Pierre Moerlen of Gong?

Oh no, don't let someone bring Gong into this. I bet someone's going to recommend 'Strawberry alarm clock' next..

How could I have forgotten to mention John French, aka Drumbo, of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band? The master of destruction of the mummy heartbeat of 4/4 time. Wears great hats too.

I'm amazed no-one's mentioned John Bonham!
But even if they had, G. Calvin Weston's still the best - never seen anyone produce anything so solid for any type of music so effortlessly, and without any show (which is where your Neil Pearts fall down...)
And Phil Collins is only any good as the driver of the bus going over a cliff, preferably with Celine Dion and Mariah Carey in the front seats.

Then of course there's Joey Baron, who *completely* rocks in the Masada quartet with Zorn, Dave Douglas, and Greg Cohen. Fierce.

Hi,

More drummers.

Got to mention Richard 'Pistol' Allen, Benny Benjamin & Uriel Jones. They were the backbone of the classic Motown sound.

Well I dont doubt the musicianship of all concerned in Naked City. But to me it sounds like a bunch of guys masturbating while eating hot chips. Dreadful waste of talent. My naked City Cd 'Radio' is a great comedy record I put it on when friends come round for a listening session and it never fails to raise a laugh. Each to their own though.
