    Bub's system isn't 'sibilant'.

And the imaging is adequate to cause great confusion when listening to 'Made in Japan'...

Hope the Fens are still flat and wish I knew what 'midrange' sounded like.

Everything is opinion, but in my expert opinion Bub's system isn't 'sibilant', a system that suppressed sibilance further would be less accurate. Some may well prefer this, especially if they have a preference for poorly recorded music or speech and an intolerance of the consequent spitting. This is a matter of personal taste.

FWIW your old system had a very narrow soundstage, I think this could be generally agreed upon? I guess it is better now, especially if you've removed that cabinet from the rhs of the room.

When I first set the Quads up the other week I had a very narrow soundstage, some rearrangement led to great improvement. I suppose I have to dig out 'Wuthering Heights' as a sibilance check now...

Anyway early September Prescott is on the schedule, probably not the meeting at the end of the month.

    Paul,

I may well trundle along to that meeting, a couple of the guys cars I used to set up are running then, be good to see what you can do with it.
The stage had been greatly improved long before I removed the cab's, but it hasn't done it any harm. Room placement if taken the time over, can certainly pay big dividends plus its free

    Hi Paul,

    As a pancake. ;-)

If your cartridge can track Wuthering Heights without a little treble break-up at times, it's good. The other famous b*stard record is Joni Mitchell's Blue.

    Night all.

ISTR the last track on Aladdin Sane being prone to spittiness. The one with 'She'll drive a Beetle car'.

Safe and very good sound. Thanks.

It's 'Lady Grinning Soul', I just looked it out. The sibilants don't bother me on the orange RCA copy I have, so I define the reproduction as 'accurate'. The green RCA International is worse.

I'm absolutely delighted to hear that. It means we both have what we like. Which is a happy situation for both of us.

    Paul R, good.

Just got back from a sailing trip.

    'Night.
