Michael If this quote is true then it explains why so many proaudio dealers have been looking at me with disbelief when I say that the transport is so important, when they are saying that it just sends 1s and 0s! Maybe this is why the M-Audio DAC that Tone has mentioned sounded so good at so little money? Dominic
 
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not there dom...

IMO, a transport is only important if the DAC is not well designed. A well designed DAC should be transport (and digital cable) independent. I'm not trying to stir with that, I really believe it. IMO far too much money has been spent on making "audiophile" transports instead of getting the DAC bit right.
